Default Best tutorial I've Ever seen.

Hi Groovers. As I'm new to Reaper, I've been grabbing tutorials from all over the web. I thought I had a reasonable handle on Reaper functions, and DAWs generally speaking. Then I came across Kenny Gioia's 16 part tutorial on 'recording your band'. You know the old saying. 'The more you learn, the more you realise what you don't know'. Holy Guacamole Batman!! I am going to trash almost every video that's hogging my hard drive and refer to these 16 new videos. They are exactly to the point. They are 2018 current, and they are Reaper specific. Mr.Burns says EEEExcellent! I hope Kenny does some follow up videos with mastering. Here is the link if you are interested.

I used Clipgrab to download the videos from Youtube.

I have one question for the old wise ones. Is Reaper basic architecture the same in version 5 as it was in version 3? I realise it has expanded with the new versions. I'm just wondering if the really old tutorials published for version 3 are just as relevant for version 5.

I second that! Those videos have every little thing, and done absolutely correctly.
I especially like being shown the what if situations, and how certain functions have a limit or a couple different way to function.

The automation vid is my current favorite, if I had to try and figure that out on my own - well I wouldn't have been able to. Thanks to the Vids, I now know what CAN be done so when I need something it's like I have a new tool in my brain ready to go!
I started tonight using automation, a little rough, but a quick re-visit to the videos, and it'll sink in a little more.

Kenny Gioia is da MAN!!!

That's probably why Kenny's videos are all linked from the Videos tag at the top of every page.

He's a modest and very stable genius. It's one of his best qualities.

MY current preferred method is to have one of the videos open while having a session open in reaper. then I follow along. If I have to pause for a bit it's all good.
I seem to be learning the keyboard shortcuts quicker by using them as they are used in the video too. If I miss a little detail a simple pause on the video lets me catch up or double check my actions to make sure I'm correct.

It's like having my own personal Reaper Guru with infinite patience. I don't believe I have EVER had such a satisfying learning curve with a new piece of software.

It's totally awesome to know after each video run through I'm going to get better and more proficient at Reaper. Take that other DAW's!

ME <------ Never looking back....

Thank you again and again KENNY!

Lol, I'm never going to be able to hear his name again, without thinking "very stable genius."

I mean, he's definitely a genius, and for all I know he's perfectly stable, but it's still funny.
