Default Receives? Sends?

Sorry for the newb question, but I feel like Reaper is the only DAW that uses Sends AND Receives.

Just to clarify, are these controls identical? Is there any functional difference between a Send from one channel and the Receive on it's destination?

I can see splitting the hair when you're working from the other end gathering signals and whatnot, but I'm a little fuzzy on if there's any functional difference or separate control.

Theyre the same thing, just looking from different directions.

thanks man, that's what I thought.

So I'm assuming if I adjust a "Send" on one channel I'd see the same adjustment appear on the "Receive" on the other end?

it seemed weird as hell to me at first, coming from a very traditional background, but nowdays I nearly almost work from the recieve window

I can see the value of it for sure, and I think it's a natural way of thinking when you think of submixing... it was just never made clear in the docs I read that they were the same thing. I wondered if they were two separate gain stages or some other kind of mixing stem entirely.

But I agree, it's helpful to look from the receiving end (haha) and grab the signals you want when you're doing most mix functions.
