Default Why is QJackCtl version so old in repos?

Not sure if anyone can answer but I wondered why in Ubuntu 20.04 and MXLinux 19 repos the newest version of QJackCtl to install is 0.5.1 which is about 2 years old? The developer has version 0.6.2 which contains some lovely new features like a connection window similar to Catia/Claudia but, in my view, easier on the eye: https://qjackctl.sourceforge.io/imag...GraphForm1.png.

Anyhow, I'm sure I can compile the source if I really wanted but it seems strange that distros (or MXLinux's test repo) haven't included a more recent version.

Debian Sid? huh, have to have a look at that, thank you for complaining

https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/linux-...-edge-updates/

and yeah, Debian's reputation really is the opposite of bleeding edge and i know there are a userbase for that, that just want stable no matter what, iii want the latest

I'm on arch-based Manjaro so i'm not suffering have to try ArchoLinux also (forgot) Manjaro's main repo even without AUR is pretty up to date,

I am thinking that maby a Debian Sid might be more unstable then a Manjaro stable branch if we say both match in the versioning department, but lets find out

--

Ended up with debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso that is "Bullseye" had a graphical installer and at the end it had a list of choices of DE's

Anyway, on that without backports or pee-pee aaay's, QJackCtl is 0.6.2, GIMP is 2.10.18-1, Firefox 68.8.0esr, WINE 5.0-4 / WINE dev 5.4-1, for example.
The Unstable (Sid) branch might not get security updates in an orderly fashion i read so, only testing the testing

So, back to Arch-based

Yes, you are right...Debian Sid has QJackCtl 0.6.2-1. Obviously MXLinux 19 is running Buster repos. Just surprised that the MXLinux test repo doesn't have the latest offering. It's a niche app though!

Very nice distro and an impressive Debian i must say though.
hmm.. did not MX Linux add PPA-support? (forgot to try, oops) maby that will help bring you all the way for your needs?
Kx Studio repo or even Ubuntu Studio, if that works
And their "testing" does suggest it is bleeding edge stuff, so why not QJackCtl 0.6.2 huh MX Linux, huh?

I suspect that qjackctl is older in some modern distros,
due to the lack of manpower to do thorough testing for
the packaging. For example, falkTX is maintaing jackd, wineasio,
creating his own Carla daw and plugins projects, and maybe more,
and then there is 30 minutes left over for life/family/carreer...

Debian has a tiered system, and a team, so offering a few different
versions of qjackctl, is a shared task, with users deciding
their own fate.

Rui teases with sourcecode and rpm's, knowing the desparate ones
must take action. The alien command to convert between
.deb and .rpm can be useful. Not an ace for system libs and apps,
but can be handy for non-crucial softwares, where an odd failure
won't go nuclear.
Cheers

Also, i did check out ArcoLinux, it did give some MX Linux vibes, but Arch
It is not like Arch is not a Linux?

The devs based on Arch maby is using scripts to pull from Arch and just check so it fits the Distro and users on unstable/testing can confirm that it works or not, iii dunno
Their repos are very updated and quick, must be scripts?..
And on Manjaro i use Archalien and the code can be reviewed.
archalien blabla.deb in the folder, done
