Default SOLVED:Confused about Reaper and LInux?

Still new to linux, so I am trying to understand how some things work. I want to use Reaper, and got the tar package and unpacked it, which just creates a folder with a Reaper exe....doesn't it need to be installed properly? Or is it really that simple?

It's not strictly necessary to "install" it, but you can do so by running the install script that's included in the archive. Otherwise, just run the reaper binary.

It's ecactly the same, except that you get a Reaper icon and a menu entry when installing it.

Did you choose option 1 or 2?

Try to execute it from the terminal with

~/.opt/REAPER/./reaper
in case you installed it in your hidden opt directory in your home folder (Option 2).
The ~ stands for your home directory.
