Default Creating Themes

I have a question for anyone who creates themes for reaper. The way I understand it, is you have to package up all your resources and code into a ReaperThemeZip file.

It just seems like the process of making a change to the rtconfig.txt file, save the folder as a zip, rename it to ReaperThemeZip, then open it to see the changes made is incredibly clunky for trying to actually design a theme.

Is there a better way around this? Is there a way I can make a change to an rtconfig.txt file, save it and see the change in the theme without going through all the zipping and renaming bit?

A theme is fully functional in its unzipped form.

The zip support is just for sharing the themes. You can have the .ReaperTheme file and the asset folder separately. I think when you open the .ReaperTheme in Reaper, you can use the theme editor to change the folder that it's using.
