Default Question about mapping and the piano roll for midi

Hey guys, I usually work with Superior drummer but I am trying some other software but I would still like to be able to use my toontrack midi files as my base then edit as usual.

My question here is, can I change the look of the piano roll in reaper? The regular one has C1, C2, C3 etc etc with the blank keys in between. What I want to do is give certain keys names like "kick", "snare" and so on so that remapping certain parts of the TT midi files isn't such a pain in the rear end.

So basically, can I assign names to the keys in the piano roll?

Sure. Double right click over a key and type in a name. Right click above the keys for the menu and there File/Note names will give you some options like saving and loading the note names.

MIDI Editor/File/Note Names - you can change individual note names then save as a file so next time you can load the file. It's a very simple format text file so you could write your own directly. It's just a list of MIDI note numbers and names e.g.

43 Tom Low
42 Hi-Hat closed
41 Tom Low
40 Snare
39 Snare
38 Snare
37 Side-Stick
36 Kick
