Tempo envelope

add action to insert tempo marker at cursor, without opening the tempo edit dialog

That's super helpful. Thanks for including it. These kind of workflow improvements make the Reaper team look good!

I'm confused why adding a tempo marker without making a change to tempo is needed/wanted. Please explain Jesus.

If I understand right (I haven't tried this yet) tempo markers can be dragged up or down. There should not be a need to go into any dialog and select anything. An action to create tempo markers that you can go and use to ramp up or down the tempo (which to sound good on certain drum patterns and solo piano parts and other rhythm-varying parts) seems helpful - I did a solo piano part months back, and my wrist got tired. Double clicking to insert them - I would have liked to automate it with an action.

Of course, you could want to enter a precise value and in that case AFAIK (not where I can double check - I use FL Studio and Bitwig and sometimes Reaper; Reaper is not yet my MIDI Editing program of choice, but great for other stuff) you could still click on the tempo marker and edit its value.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll definitely be switching shift+c to that action.

I'm actually going to take credit for this one.

The idea being you can quickly create one and then just drag it as opposed to creating a tempo change.

couldn't you always cmd-click to do it? Or mousewheel over the bpm box in the transport

Cmd-Click where?

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing.

Yeah. We're talking about the ability to do it right in the ruler. Without having to open the envelope.

The changelog says Envelope, not ruler. 100% where the confusion came from.

I was hoping the OP had actually used the feature when I asked him so I could include the information in my video. Oh well, close enough.
