Default Media project directory

Today I was giving this version a test run to record some riffs I'd come up with, but when I went to record, it gave me this message: "Can't write to recording files, does directory exist?" I figured that it was saying that because I had it set to record into "/Media" and the directory hadn't been created for some reason (it always did that automatically on the Windows version). So I created the directory and restarted Reaper and it still didn't work. I just deleted the "/Media" thing so it would record into the project folder (which I'd rather it didn't, but I wanted to lay down some quick tracks) and that worked fine. Am I doing something wrong? Am I going to have to manually create the "Media" directory every time I make a new project?
