Delete Selected Tracks?

One thing that is definitely a flow buster when creating is those hideous and annoying "confirmation" windows.
I hope we can turn these off.
One thing to mention is that if you somehow delete a track by accident(how is beyond me)...just hit ctrl+z and presto!!!...it magically reappears. So...I dont see the logic in having this at all.

Need to careful here Shan. Don't want to depart from the mission objective.
A plus 1 for making this optional.
Alex.

Yeah, but ...

If back-ups are of no help at all, the next thing to do is to rig it all up again and re-record everything — quite timewasting as well. I understand and respect users who give priority to the "'R' in REAPER". But there has to be a good balance between "rapid", "non-timewasting" and safety. So I agree with some of the posters above, delete confirmation could be optional.

This doesn't make sense, Valle. If you're looking at a project with a track missing from last week, then no amount of popup confirmation windows are going to bring that track back from the dead, and you'll HAVE to rummage around in the project dir anyway.
Backups may be as timewasting as hell, but the reason we have backups is so you can recover stuff, so that's just normal, and not relavent in terms of time, versus the time wasted dealing with rapidly breeding popups. And what about live? Here and now?
We'll get macros failing, here and now.
Every time we carry out an action involving saving or cutting, we'll get a popup. count' em up. I'm fairly sure you'll save more time finding that missing file in backup, than the constant time wasted dealing with popups. Here and now.
If we're on a time limit, and need to get a piece finished in a hurry, how much of that time is going to be wasted on dealing with popups? Here and now.
We already have a great backup in the undo, and ctl+z recovery system, here and now.
So your choice of analogy may not be strictly relavent.
I appreciate your desire to see this as optional though.
Alex.

I think his point is that the track wouldn't have been mysteriously deleted in the first place.

Hehe, ok Schwa. But surely he would have listened to it before he saved, bagged it up, and sent it off to the dry cleaners.

Actually I'm sure I've deleted a bass DI before (didn't notice it in the mix, the cab was predominating) and found out a bit later that day.
I just opened an earlier version of the project, copied the track, and pasted it into the first project again...
But hey, if it worries some people, let them have the confirmation (optionally )

Bevoss,
I'm trying to see this from both perpsectives. But i don't get the priority of 'just in case', over day in day out workflow. Just percentages wise, it doesn't seem to add up to me.
Anyway, what i think is irrelavent, as the devs are the ones writing the code and making the decisions, so we'll see what happens.
Alex.

I really wouldn't want you to think of me as a stupid person, but would you please care to briefly explain that metaphor?

I wrote this with a bit of humour in mind as well, Valle.
Being completely serious, i meant listened to the work, checked it, saved it, and backed it up.
I don't think you're stupid. My strange sense of humour has been lost on many people......

Here's an idea (I'm full of them...) -
Optional pop up box which sits in the middle of the screen for a configurable number of seconds saying "track deleted" or "item deleted" or whatever deleted - maybe configured with ticks according to what warnings you want. That wouldn't mess with the macros, but would give you a chance to undo.
Somthing like this in prefs or whatever:-
Deletion warnings - show for [n] secs
[x] Track delete
[x] Item delete
[x] Envelope delete
[x] Whatever
