Default Poetic Guitar II doesn't work any more

Hello!

I have a strange issue with the beautiful VSTi Poetic Guitar II, which worked always without any problems- until now.

I do as always: I load Poetic Guitar into the FX channel of a track but now, when I play a note, Reaper immediately mutes the track and shows me a horribly high peak. Unmuting only works after deleting the PG2-session.

That's really horrible...
Any ideas?

Have you already checked the (output) volume setting/knob in the Poetic Guitar II plugin?

In general, also check the automatic mute settings in Reaper under Preferences > Audio > Mute/Solo: https://www.reaper.fm/videos.php#eIO8oI6DUgM

There is no output-setting in PG2, only the volume-knob and it is still in its standard position.

The automatic mute in the Reaper preferences says: +18db

And the high peak, which makes Reaper to mute the track, says extreme high values like ~+500 to ~700db ...

OK. Just for testing purposes: is the problem the same when using a different virtual instrument (like ReaSynth, etc.) on the same Track?

In general, you can also try making a fresh portable install (of the same or a previous Reaper version) to a separate folder (side-by-side to your existing install) and see if the same problems happens there:

Maybe you can also save a little example project (where this problem occurs) and attach just the .RPP project file to a post.

Thanks for this great idea!
I checked this out and installed version 5.50 where
PG2 was running for sure, --- but same issue.

Looks like that isn't a reaper-related issue.
Maybe a Windows update is bugging PG2 somehow….

I also tried with Directsound (instead of asio)
and with disabled midi-controlers. Same sh**

And finally I installed Ardour just to try out.
Same.... Must be something bigger but it is definitively
not a Reaper issue.

Thanks anyway for any help. I have to contact the seller
and /or find another solution...

Sadly it looks like they are no longer doing this product.
