Found a Bug with scanning for VSTs
I decided to try the new updated version of Pianoteq 7, and no matter where I unzipped the files, REAPER never would pick them up.
On a last ditch effort I noticed that the .so file for Pianoteq 7 has a S P A C E between Pianoteq and the number 7 so I renamed the .so file to Pianoteq-7.so did a scan for new VST plugins and this time REAPER picked it up. The previous version was just named Pianoteq.so, so I don't know if a space in the .so filename has always been a problem, or if it's new behavior since the last changes were made to VST scanning in REAPER. Anyway, a SPACE in the name of a .so file does not work with REAPER! |

Hmm is this in VST2 or VST3 form? Can you show me ls -lR of the relevant path (before you fixed it)?

https://www.modartt.com/try?file=pia..._trial_v704.7z The original file name and full path would have been /home/glennbo/.vst/Pianoteq 7/x86-64bit/Pianoteq 7.so with a space in front of the 7. I added a hyphen so the full path and filename are now. /home/glennbo/.vst/Pianoteq 7/x86-64bit/Pianoteq-7.so Until I put the hyphen in place of the space, all variations of VST scans wouldn't pick it up. The moment there was no space in the file name, REAPER showed it as a new VST. It appears that a space is cool in the folder hierarchy, but the ending file, not so much. |

The issue is not the space, it's that there's an arm version also in your path, with the same name, and REAPER happens to be prioritizing that version (which doesn't load) over the one that does... Delete or rename the arm version and you should be good to go as-is...

Thanks Justin. Normally I only keep the .so file when un-archiving a native Linux plugin, but that didn't work with Pianoteq so I dropped the whole thing in my .vst folder. It appears the VST .so points to the LV2 version like a wrapper, which was why the VST .so didn't work by itself. Thanks again for taking time to look at it.
