Nick Moritz made a subtle theming implementation on that one... If you look at the rtconfig.txt of the theme, line #80, you see this :

set tcp.meter h<29 [246 7 7 10 1 0 1 0] [246 6 7 59 1 0 1 1]

Which means that, as soon as the tcp panel height goes under 29 pixels, the meters one is reduced to 10 pixels and is no longer stretched vertically with the panel. Why so ? because at this height, the meter_strip_*.png files are no longer applied to the meters and, to know which colors are used, you have to open the Theme development/tweaker window. A little above the half of the settings list, you can see these color definitions :

VU (indicator) - no signal
VU (indicator) - low signal
VU (indicator) - med signal
VU (indicator) - hot signal

At less than 11 pixels (I have tested it...), these colors are applied instead of the ones defined in the meter_strip_*.png files, from which the 10 pixels defined by Nick Moritz for the meters height when the tcp panel one goes under 29 pixels.

Alternatively, we can get an interesting result with the RADO v4 theme, by stating this instead :

set tcp.meter [246 6 7 55 1 0 1 1]

This will let the meter height over the 10 pixels threshold, excepting for the minimal height of the panel (collapsed state), which is 27 pixels. So, at only this precise height of the panel, the meters will behave as an indicator.

I was going to post the details about how to do this but Cubic has done a much more elegant job describing this than I would have.

Thanks also, ReaDave...

Looking at this again, I think that, actually, the most elegant alternative way to deal with the meters in RADO v4 theme is to state this :

set tcp.meter h<28 [246 9 7 7 1 0 1 0] [246 6 7 59 1 0 1 1]

It allows to keep the initial vertical dimensions of the meters defined by Nick moritz, this, while making a square indicator only when the tcp panel is at a collapsed state.

Overall, I really like this theme : for me, it's among the best ones ever done. It's a pity that Nick moritz is no longer here to adapt it in his own way for Reaper 5. I have done a slight mod of it, about two years ago, which is still somewhere in the stash (RADO-V4C) : it was to answer to an Andywanders enquiry. Seeing it again, I'm wondering if I'm not going to go further and make a true adaptation for Reaper 5 of this one...

I have to second that. Nick had a design style which ticks the right boxes in my eyes or how to say in english?

Would love to see a RADO 5 adaptation from you.
