Default reacontrolmidi alternative ?

hello

i would like to use the wonderful automation lanes to automate the filter with CC74 on a Avalon abstrakt (tb303 cone)

reacontrolmidi seem to be uncompatible, alot of lag and crash often the hardware

the same in raw mode

when i use JS LFO generator plugin there is no problem

i am not sure but some people said the reacontrolmidi is in 14 or 20 bits only and the avalon accept only 7 bits messages

so is there an alternative of reacontrolmidi to do the trick please ?

Do you have any special reason to avoid direct CC lanes in the MIDI editor?
That is what corresponding automations generate at the end, but working with CC directly give you precise control on the rate.
I guess your hardware is overwhelmed by the high rate CC changes.

CC lanes are ok to record something do with a hand

automation lanes with automation items can do what i can't do with my hand, rapid things, precise, easy to edit, act like a lfo.. it is what i would like for some of my hardware

the square waveform of RCM overloads much less

nice automation of this hardware is possible i can ear it with JS LFO generator

i am wondering if a plugin like RCM but with lower rate CC change or say 7 bits compatibity exist?

CCs are always 7bit (sometimes 2 of them are used in pairs for 14).

Reaper has no CC automations, so the path is:
automation -> reacontrolmidi parameter -> CC
You have less control on how/when the curve is quantized in the time and value (parameter/automation are always 0. to 1., CC is 0 to 127). Also any not square "curve" generates many CC changes. VSTs usually have no problem with that, they are designed for processing with one buffer size quantization (can be under 1ms) and they get the changes internally (no throughput limit). Hardware has rather low throughput when connected by MIDI (~1 message per 1ms) and internal processing can be even slower. It is easy to saturate it by sending uncontrollable amount of CC changes.

You can draw CC values precise or generate them with JS/(MIDI processing)VST. When drawing, you control the rate by snap setting.

ok i understand better thank you

do you know a JS/(MIDI processing)VST can draw CC enveloppes into CC lanes please ?

or something to copy a track automation into CC lane automation maybe ? with a resolution option

i found it !

with this JS script i can use automation lanes to midi CC without overwhelmed my hardware like with reamidicontrol

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/3763/Automation_to_MIDI.zip

and also this one :

is the issue that reacontrolmidi is just overwhelming your hardware with too many messages? perhaps a "resolution limit" would be a good feature.

yes it is the only issue, i don't know exactly how that work but yes i think an option for the resolution can be a good feature to than reacontrolmidi be compatible with more/all external hardware

I'll bet you reacontrol midi top channel box is set to all..thereby "choking" the hardware. Every move is x16. Just a guess:-)
