Default Recording two mics with a UX2 (routing issues?)

So I am trying to simultaneously record from the two mic inputs on my Line6 UX2. I have successfully done this in renoise before by panning them right and left and recording the 1/2 output and then splitting the resulting stereo sample into two mono tracks.

I tried to do the same on Reaper, but the left and right sides came out exactly the same (and I think only included the signal from one mic?).

I also tried using the podfarm 2 mixer to output one of the mics through the 1/2 channel and the other through the 3/4 channel, and record each of those on a different track in Reaper. Again, each of the tracks came out identical.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Create two tracks
Set input of track 1 to mono UX2-Input 1
Set input of track 2 to mono UX2-Input 2

It's as simple as that.....no need to record stereo and split the file.

I have done that, (although not mono, as Reaper doesn't seem to allow that).

I have two mics going into my interface, each connecting to a different send from my UX2 interface. I can hear both of them in my monitors. I have the first mic set to channel 1-2, and the second mic set to channel 3-4. But when I send them each to a separate track in Reaper and hit record, the resulting recording is exactly the same for each track, as if I had been sending the same mic to both.

can you explain why you can't do as Stella suggests, what exactly is preventing you from selecting channel 1 for one track and channel 2 for the other?

Hello puddlesofun and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. Make sure that you:
The easy one first: Reaper does support recording of a mono audio source. Select the single channel form the Input device menu:

This shows recording in stereo, in mono and the menu.

I do not know the UX, but you should be able to route mic 1 to channel 1 and mic2 to channel 2, then select them in Reaper as Stella645 said.

Hi. The problem was that Reaper was recording the same input onto two tracks even though each track had different inputs selected.

Anyway I updated to the latest version and it works fine now. No idea what caused the original problem. Thanks for your help.
