Default MIDI Editor - Note names inside brackets

Hi,

I usually use the shortcut Alt + 0 to show note names on midi note editor. I don't know what it'd changed but in this MIDI item the names appear inside brackets. What does it mean? How can I change it?

Thanks,
Gonzalo

Note names are inside the brackets (parentheses) when you have loaded a note name file in MIDI Editor or renamed the current note. So the specific name given for a note is displayed first and the actual note (pitch) goes inside the brackets.

You can clear the current note names from File\Note/CC Names, Clear Note/CC Names. You can also rename/delete individual note names by double right-clicking over a given piano key to open the text box, edit and enter.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I don't remember to set custom names for the notes but it looks like you're right. But even removing CC names from notes, the note is still in parentheses (example --> (A2))

I've tried to add a random name, and the notes are shown like this: Random name (A2), but when I remove CC names, the note is still on parenteses (A2). There is something I'm doing wrong, don't I?

PS: double right-clicking on a note doesn't open to me a text box

You don't remove the names from the notes themselves, but from the piano keys. So double right-click over a piano key and that will open the text edit box for the given key.

What could've happened is that you have at some point accidentally done this right clicking, hit space bar and then enter. This will rename the given key with empty space, so you don't actually see anything else but the note in parenthesis. So you'll have to make sure you delete everything from the given key, including the empty space, to get back to the normal state. Clear Note/CC Names from the menu should do the same. If that is not working, there is something else going on.

Thanks, today I've learned something new

It's pretty likely I pressed the space back while the note name editor was opened but I'm sure Clear Note/CC Names from the menu was not working to me. I cannot test again in some days because I'm out. When I arrive, I'll let know you if I fix or not.

Ok, I've just checked out it and yes, on every note there are around 4 empty spaces as names (I don't' know why so much). But I'm still in troubles because I double click on the piano roll note and delete all the spaces, hit enter and still no changes. If I double click again, the spaces continue there (despite I previously I deleted it). What am I doing wrong?
