Default Naming markers via actions

Hello everybody,

I am just starting out with Reaper. So far it has been a good experience. I have found the command "40171 Markers: Insert and/or edit marker at current position" in the actions list and need some assistance. I would like to be able to add markers on the fly via a midi message that would also label this marker for me as well. For example if I send a midi cc of x to Reaper it would place a marker at the cursor while it is recording and label it "Chicken Dance" or whatever I have it programmed to. It looks like this is possible perhaps with a simple script, I just haven't been able to figure it out.

Thanks so much for your help,
Nicolas

Seven years later, here I am asking if you ever got this to work out... because I'm looking at the same functionality from an AHK script but can't work out how this Command ID works outside of Reaper.

Easy to do internally with a ReaScript.
