Popups for "missing samples" can't be seen

This has happened to me a few times now, but I sometimes move a folder with samples and try to load a song, and then I get a popup saying that I am missing samples. I only know what the popup says because when I press 'Alt+Tab' I can see the window title. Other than that, I can't click on anything. The Reaper splash screen is just stuck and I have to use task manager to force quit Reaper to go any farther.

Any info on how to stop this from happening would be great! Thanks.

Yeah, ik. Alt+Tab and Enter only way to get on with it

I'm assuming you're using Windows, right?

In this case try the following:

1) Press Alt + Spacebar and then Enter (to put the active window into 'Move-mode')
2) Use the Arrow keys to move the window into the visible screen area


Or try pressing the Esc key to close/skip the popup window.

Hey guys, yeah I'm on Windows 7. Alt+Tab then selecting the screen I need doesn't work for me. Reaper still sits on top of everything with it's splash screen.

I also tried the "Alt+Spacebar and then Enter" and tried moving the arrow keys around but that didn't seem to do anything either.J

Escape also doesn't seem to do anything. Reaper is just "frozen" and I can't even minimize or maximize it because it is telling me there is a window in front of it (it makes the ding sound any time I click anywhere). I can alt+tab to this window for example, and I can still see in my alt+tab list that the "missing samples" popup is still there somewhere, but Reaper just doesn't allow it to come forward for me to use at all.

New edit: I found if I click where the splash screen is really fast, the "Missing Samples" window sometimes VERY briefly pops up and closes again before the splash screen takes over.

More edit: Continued to spam click the Reaper Splash screen. Finally got the Missing Samples window to come up and stay!

It seems there is some sort of issue with the splash screen wanting priority.

AFAIK it's a modal window which means until it completes you can't access any other window that pops up behind it. The could be a bit of a bug or at minimum unfortunate corner case.
