Default "Blurs Somewhere" - please comment on mix!

Hi all -

I just wrapped up this Reaper project doing a friend's song and would like some comments on the mix if you have any. (e.g. BG vox level? Guitar solo? Compression too much? Too little? etc.)

I appreciate the ears on this forum and would love to hear from you!

I enjoyed it.
Felt an old school REM vibe.
Mix sounded great to me..maybe just lower that harmonic at 1:50 (was a bit loud on my speakers).

Sounds great - the mix is really solid, and the song kept me listening the whole way through. Don't really have any criticisms on the mix - I can never get drums to sit that nicely, and is exceptionally "warm" overall (in a good way).

Mix sound good on my end. The only think I noticed, and this may be a personal preference, is that the vocals seems to be competing a bit with other instruments. I wonder what would happen if you tried carving out some frequencies in the 3-5 K in some instruments? Perhaps the vocal would pop out a bit without having to make them louder in decibels. Would probably have to reduce the reverb a bit if they were living in a privileged space?

Monitors: I like the pump of the Bdrum and Bguit in there. I think the low end is a little thin overall and could use more melodic low end. Good balance overall with the mix, gives me that BoDeans kind of feel.

hey, this sounds great and is able to keep attention to the song.

I heard the compression right away and was always on the limit of too much or just perfect for the song. In the end it didn't make it sound out of context even if its hard compressed. I think it gives it a good punch and modern feel to this more vintage style.

There was no element sticking out and nothing to disturb.

I also agree that the vocals miss a tiny little focus and I think its the stereo effect that steals the middle sometimes not sure.

Anyways, congrats and keep it up its super good and thanks for letting us comment
