Tempo markers reset the bar position to 1
I am trying to use Jamstix with Reaper and I notice that a tempo change marker in Reaper will cause the bar position to be reset back to 1 in Jamstix when the marker is reached.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with the sync?
Thanks,
Randy

Anyone?
I just tried this in Acid and the proper bar position is maintained in Jamstix across tempo/time-sig markers.
However, the bar position is reset to 1 in Jamstix whenever a Reaper tempo/time-sig marker is encountered.
This makes it impossible to use Jamstix to arrange a track in Reaper if there are any tempo/time-sig changes.
Is there some setting I need to set?
Thanks,
Randy

It's not just Jamstix, I see the same problem with FL Studio 6.
Does anybody sync Reaper with any other sequencers?
Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy,
It's not a bug, it's the way the Tempo changes currently work in REAPER.
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Hmmmm... What may I ask is the rationale behind this "feature"?
Why would anyone want the bar to be reset to 1 at the marker?
If its not a bug, can I request a mode be added whereby Reaper maintains the proper song position with a VSTi like Jamstix or FL Studio?
Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy,
As I understand it the current behaviour is "transitional". I agree that it makes more sense to be able to change Tempo within a bar. I think you'll see this behaviour in future versions of REAPER.
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Malcolm,
OK, fair enough. It just seems a little nutty to have it the way it is now. Thanks for acknowledging the issue!
Cheers,
Randy

randy,
am I correct in thinking that you mean jamstix goes back to bar 1, at the marker?
In REAPER the markers reset the time to the beginning of the next bar, but it should not go back to the first bar.
Can you clarify this? And if it is what I'm thinking, I need to figure out how to send the time signature change correctly to the VST, since the VST SDK is _VERY_ poorly documented on that matter. Perhaps I'll ask the jamstix developers... anyway let me know.

Justin,
Yes, indeed. Upon encountering the marker, Jamstix will revert to bar 1 (the first bar). So will FL Studio when used as a VSTi. So I think it is a general problem with Reaper. I tried the behaviour in Acid Pro and it works as expected.
Did you mention you had Jamstix? Its should be an easy repro. Just insert a Jamstix VSTi and watch the Jamstix bar counter on the main Jamstix tab as Reaper plays through the tempo/time-sig marker.
Thanks,
Randy
