New Sans amp bass driver vst
http://www.theserinaexperiment.net/f...c.php?f=9&t=68
Give this a try. I compared it with my sans amp, and this guy got damn close. Once the overdrive is pushed to break, it sounds a bit different, but the drive leading up to the break is very familiar. The eq sounds pretty spot on as well. It's incredibly nice to have this in the form of a free plugin.

Next to this thing, my best bass chains sound like that crappy ripped-speaker fuzz that the Kinks had in the '60s sitting next to a cranked Mesa stack.
Aside from maybe the new version of Virtual Bass Amp (I think there's a new one...), this is hands-down the best bass plugin available.

Is this supposed to be used as a head instead of something like Ampeg SVX or as an overdrive unit before it? What it is?

It can basically act as an all-in-one bass amp for easy and great bass tones. The Tech-21 product that this is patterned after always received good reviews. I Dl'd it but haven't tried it out yet. Looks promising.

it is not either of those. you can tell right away, because the mouse-wheel will scroll the knobs.

basically, sans amp's are used as a bass DI. If you have a real one, going through it first, and then your amp, can make a great difference in your sound (it does such a nice job compressing). One of my favorite bass players uses one up front of an SVX.
Basically, try to record a bass direct and then use this on the bass channel. that's what it is for, but you can use it to color anything.

This thread came out at the perfect time. I've been playing around with my bass sound for the last week. Anyway.... I'm using The Bass Devil, and then this plugin....plus a couple of other things and I'M LIKING IT ALOT. Thanks.

Awesome. Getting it now!
Edit Wow! Just slapped this on my bass track after the amp and what a beautiful difference it made to how the track is sitting in the mix just by adding a little drive and using the treble and bass to further EQ the track just a tiny bit. Onqel, if you read this, THANK YOU for making this and being gracious enough to share it. This is a great sounding plug.

I downloaded the gui-less beta of this for testing some time ago, waiting for the final version to be released.
Totally missed it's here now, thanks for the heads up and thanks to onqel of course.

Hmmm, have to try that one sometimes.
I used it before Ampeg SVX Uno plug in "ElectroCute", but not full wet.

Well, I'm just getting some final opinions on the mix and then I'm going to post in the collab forum so you can hear what it sounds like on the latest M2M track FWIW. Coming soon.

kindafishy: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it
nofish: you're welcome
pac-man: No it's no SE/SM program.. the vst is programmed in visual C++ using the WDL/IPlug framework from Schwa/Cockos ..

There's a bug in the plugin which crashes it when you use more than one instance of the plugin.. I don't think many of you run more than one instance in a project, but I will have it fixed by the next update.. sorry for the inconvinience

I would have to reference the hardware, but where does the blend normally fall in the chain? I was using it last night and was suprised that the eq effects the dry signal that passes through the unit. Is that intentional?
Regardles, you can blend it easily with reapers wet/dry controls simply enough, I was just wondering.

This sounds like something I would love.

I was waiting for an easy bass amp sim, and I love the Sansamp's sound!
Now, if you can do a VT Bass version...

Yeah, this is really great! I'm still using the GUIless version, maybe I should update it but if I got it right, sound hasn't changed since that beta? This thing works very well with DI bass, with or without ampsims. My Charvel P/J bass loves it. It can do great modern/hifi sound but also it works well with more vintage type sounds. This may sound corny but it really simply makes my bass better
Also Onqel's 808 distortion is very good! It works nicely with bass too if you just use it as parallel processor. With mild settings I like it lot with even old school jazz and spaghetti-western guitar sounds so it is not only about metal mayhem
X30 is so good that when I originally got it I started briefly to play metal again Now that is quite an achievement from a free plugin...
GUIs are nice but these plugins have killer sound, and like I said, B.O.D. sounds great without GUI altogether
