Default Playback tracks out of sink

Hello
There is a sink delay on the playback of my tracks. There dosn't seem to be any latency delay in the head phones during recording. The accuricy shifts when I play back my saved files, the tracks are not in sink. Sometimes worse than others. I am using a Tascam us 122 at the moment and the computer specs seem to be in order. Any help would be much appreciated
Thank you

Have you tried turning off your hardware monitoring and turning on the track monitoring in Reaper, to see if the channels are getting to Reaper in sync?

Default Still Not Working

Thanks Shane, but I tryed the monitering, it isn't the problem that I can see. The sync delay happens in various diferent amounts and the track graph will often look like it's in sync during recording yet it will slip out before play back.
I have a Pentium 3. CPU INTEL 900MHZ, 256MB RAM.
I don't really Know what ASIO is, in relation to my set up.
Thanks

Go to :

Options/Preferences/Audio/Devices

What does the first drop down menu say?

Switch it to ASIO, if that's not what it says. That will often cure the problem. It's a more efficient driver.

Default No ASIO found.

I've looked around for ASIO in "Sound and Audio Devices," "Device Controles," ,"Tascam us 122 hardware area" and various other places in my computer and I can't find ASIO anywhere.
I don't seem to have [Options/Preferences/Audio/Devices }
comands on
on my computer that I can see, but I figure I'm looking in the same place , but I don't know.
Can I intstal such a thing or is it part of the Tascam us 122 interface device driver, or something.
Do you know where to get this ASIO if its an outside program? I've looked around at definitions and web sights about ASIO, but I have yet to truly under stand it.
I'm just new at this, and I've been corecting failed atempts on various interface related topics and reading stuff on it for hours each day, day in day out for over a month, so fogive me if I'm a little bit brain dead on this at this moment.
Thanks Trombone Master, for any help.

ASIO is the type of driver that your soundcard uses to communicate with Reaper. I've got a buddy that has the same interface as you, and I'm almost positive it has ASIO drivers.

Open Reaper, then hit "ctrl+P". That will open the "Reaper Preferences" dialog. On the left hand side of the dialog, you'll see a list. Click where it says "Devices", right under the word "Audio" The very first drop down list at the top is what you need to look at first. If it says anything other than "ASIO" (it may say "Kernel Streaming" or "Direct Sound", etc), click on it and choose "ASIO".

Then in the next dropdown menu below that ("ASIO Device") it should list your hardware "Tascam......" You may have to click on the drop down menu and select the Tascam device.

Let me know whe you get to this point, and if you need further help.

Default Still synk delay

I did all that on above post , it still isn't in line. It may be less out of synk but it's still out of synk, a little bit, but enough to make it pritty much useless for recording. I tryed linking up the sampling rates as well, so there all the same in different parts of the computer, ie Reaper software, and the computer device controles . I don't know much about buffering and all these other things in there to mess with that. It says 600 (sourse material buffer size), 4 threads, 0 Pre buffer . I don't know what all that really means to fiddle with it.
I don't use in line monertering at the moment. So I'm stumped. I don't know, Hum, nothings working.
The cutting and pasteing method is very inacurate and unprofesional and time consuming. and not a viable option
Thats that
Thanks for any help

question....
i must say a p3 is getting VERY long in the tooth for modern
daw applications and multitracking.
youve got a lot of potential problems with that machine.
slow processor
low memory
prolly slow hard drive(s)
another issue migght be the 122 is a usb device if i remember.
and being a p3 you prolly have old usb support.
thus i suspect this is an issue right there,.

see the macle post where i detailed a budget pc solution.
peace.
