Default multiple midi note colormaps in one theme

apologies, this may be an odd idea, but ...

is there any way to have one theme hold two different midi note colormaps, so that different tracks could be assigned to use map1 or map2 ?

But it is already possible to do this. In the midi editor, in the "Colors" window at the bottom, assign the map you want via MEDIA. For each track you will have different color mappings. You need to have color maps and know which directory to look for. Create a button with the action "View: Load note color map from file" and assign the directory where you have your color maps ....

Ok. Then I think you know that you can also find ready-made in the stash. Greetings

created the custom map I wanted using the browser-based tool posted elsewhere on this forum by gxray. My maps looks correct, so I tried two different ways to use it in midi tracks:
> applied the colormap file to single midi item, using the item context action "View: load color map from file

>replaced the midi_note_colormap.png in the [file].ReaperThemeZip in my color themes folder, expecting my revised note colors in all midi editors across full project

both methods fail to use the color scheme of my png map. Instead there seems to be an override applied. I suspect this governed by other settings in prefs or theme.

Tried the above two methods with several other themes also, same problem.

I have been trying to read more about themes and colors, but it is all pretty complicated, still can't figure it out.

is there an easy fix which can get my midi_note_colormap.png to apply without modification?

I can't help you, I only know this method of using colormaps, which I think is the simplest and nondestructive. If you need to get something more "surgical" you better expand the question maybe someone has the answer.I'm sorry. Greetings
(... I also invite you to mention which operating system you use and which theme you currently have .....)
