Thanks for the info on ARA. Glad that it's been held back for tweaks a bit now that we can all get on it and try it out
+ Video: 360 panner spherical source mode
Any additional info on this? Does it mean that we can tick a box in say source properties to then convert spherical videos into a normal view and then we have say automation to control where we are looking etc?

The video processor preset "Equirectangular 360 panner" is now "Equirectangular/speherical 360 panner", you can switch it to spherical mode (I got a $50 360fly HD camera...)

Cool, Now wouldn't it be handy to record video clips from your cam straight into reaper alongside multi track audio?
(presuming pc connectable)
Huh?!
(I was toying with getting a 360 cam to record live/studio performances and needing to fudge it all together after the fact with multiple apps put me off, compared to hitting record then stop and its all there in sync. + This has been my only FR for years now .
if reaper can encode/decode + manipulate in real-time already, capture can't be hard for super genuises! )

If there was an easy way to do that I probably would, but it's a pain...
Also you don't need to fudge with multiple apps, REAPER's video processors do it all...
Here's my test video using a modified version of the spherical panner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8sLJtl13d8

I guess i mean separately capturing then getting file into reaper and synced up Is the tedious bit. rather than a criticism of the video processing.
Thanks for the response tho. Tiny little utilties can capture so really I guess it the syncronsing that is tricky?
Capture into reaper would also be a boon for freetime visualguidetracks, which i use video for q often.
I do have an alternative idea that is reaper via osc/midi telling something good at video like a phone or tablet to simply record and play in sync - offloading the faff.
.. (so an app in other words ) I Never told anyone till now there goes my millions..
Edit: yes your video jam was kind of thing I was interested in - no videographer or multi cams etc low maintenance intimate performance vid. Maybe cheaper cam needs more light but cool anyway.

Ah yes.. I saw that on your rehearsal the other day and wondered if that was a spherical camera, that was an interesting pan for sure, nice!

So, does this mean that this pre (v5.96rc4) doesn't include ARA support? Was just about to give it a try, now that Melodyne 4.2 update is finally released including ARA 2 support.

Correct. ARA support has been in prereleases for months, but when we added it to 5.96rc3 a couple of issues came up that were slightly outside the scope of what would be appropriate to deal with in the release candidate stage. I think we are pretty close though and the 5.97 cycle should not take too long.

So another thing from the Reaper 6-wishlists already included in a 5.xx release, then.
Something left?

Studio one 4 has this feature, you can buy it there -> https://shop.presonus.com/products/studio-one-4-prods
On the other hand, there are hundreds of achievable things in REAPER that are not possible in SO4. It's up to you to make your choice

The obsolete ARA 1 specification never was intended to be supported by Reaper.
