While we're on the subject, is there any chance of lifting the FX Browser's 4096 paths limit? As reported in this thread: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=194790

Thanks.

I'm getting plugins I've hidden by adding a # to the front of their name appearing in the recent folder. Now, granted, I did recently load them to make sure I didn't actually own licenses for them just before I added the # to the name, but I'd still expect the Recent Folder to honor the "Show FX in List -> Plugins that begin with #" being unchecked.

FX browser: update folders when renaming FX chains

What does this one actually mean?

I'm hoping it doesn't mean renaming an fx in the fx window, automatically changes the fx browser version to have the same name?

I think I've got it wrong on what it does but if it is the above then that will cause loads of issues for users of certain scripts and klinke's mcu mackie emulation.

Hey guys,

Since you guys seem to be focusing on crossfade stuff... I'm going to resurrect a bug report from February.. it would be great if you guys could address this if your head is in this space:

As someone who edits audio all the time, this is very annoying to me... especially when I routinely use Equal Gain and Equal Power x-fades within the same phrase.

Below are examples of Reaper's and another DAW's (in this case Nuendo) visual representation of crossfades of a since wave at -12dB, 440 Hz. In both cases (Equal Gain and Equal Power) Reaper incorrectly displays the combined volume waveform.

Incorrect Equal Gain crossfade for Reaper (note... it should be a solid line):
Correct Equal Gain display on another DAW:

Incorrect Equal Power crossfade for Reaper for a 440 Hz sine wave (note... it should be an increase in volume... therefore a bump):
Correct Equal Power display on another DAW:

This is not the correct place to discuss this, but I suspect what you're seeing is the fact that overlapping items do not have their peaks summed, you're seeing just the overlapping peaks of each item.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for responding. Schwa said as much in the other thread. Nofish commented the following regarding summing the waveforms:

The way ADSR controls are now laid out in RS5000 is entirely non-standard. Either have them all in a column one below another, or have them in a single row, but don't have ADS in one row and R in another... Not only that, but you placed Sustain before Decay, which boggles the mind. Sustain is AFTER Decay...

Also, is the ADSR graph really showing the true state of the fact that attack and release stages are linear? There has to be some curvature options here as linear A/R is not really natural sounding at all.

Also, regarding FX prefixes... when the same plugin is found in different flavors (say VSTi and VST3i) in a largely consistent filter (i.e. largely VST2 plugins with a few VST3 plugins), I think it would look nicer to change how this is displayed, because the way it is now it breaks the visual flow. Example:

Code:
Spectral
SQ8L
Strobe
Superior Drummer
VSTi: Surge
VST3i: Surge
Synth1
System-8
...
It would be better if it was like this:

Code:
Spectral
SQ8L
Strobe
Superior Drummer
Surge (VSTi)
Surge (VST3i)
Synth1
System-8
...

Agreed. Plugin name is much more important in the view then the plugin type (vst2,vst3 etc.) and the list should reflect that imho The second example is much easier to parse/process visually.

INFO tags still does not show in windows explorer, ie title, artist, album.
Exporting in HOFA selecting "write metadata to riff info chunk" shows up in windows explorer. What am i missing?

Agreed about putting type at the end.

That also means I could have the fx window left side a lot more narrow as it would list the plugin name first instead of type.

I can't believe that I did not know that a search box existed in the IDE!! This is great! No more scrolling up and down for me to find a variable! And it even has all the API functions!! So nice!!!

After my small party you can all now continue the discussion about the dev build

Ah. Not tried rendering anything yet to be honest.

Maybe state your operating system etc so devs know where to look

Just test rendering here and it's working so far.

I even rendered a 4th order 32 channel ambisonic file (which is flipping amazing that Reaper can do that! thanks) and it seems fine at the moment.

Maybe take an image of what your rendering settings are and operating system etc.

As mentioned a screen print or sample project may be helpful. Or at minimum, just more details like: What are you trying to Render? What are the exact steps your following? Etc.

If other people aren't having issues with Render, more details will be required as to try to find out what about it is not working for you.

This is easily seen when one of the items is selected, but IMHO the display is confusing when both are not selected. I always trusred that Reaper will do the audio correctly

Try the "Render" button that is two buttons to the left of the "Apply" button (the Apply button just saves the settings).

Big +1 for curve controls on the Attack and Decay. A Hold parameter would go a long way too.

Good idea also, agree plugin type is secondary info and should come after the plug name.

What does this do? for me its the same scroll direction in the mixer.
Isnt it better if the user can just change what direction the scroll in the mixer should be?

I believe it has to do with this chnage,
v6.10+dev0516 - May 16 2020
+ Mixer: mousewheel scroll consistently by one track left and right

There were reports the scroll direction flipped, so they switched it back, (I didn't test), but latest pre-0519a acts same as v6.10 so all is good here.

The filters apply to the values of the variables too! They should apply ONLY to variables. For example. We want to filter the variables and see their value.
If I write NOT gfx NOT reaper then it hides all reaper objects. This is not desirable! Filter only by Name, not by Value!

Same here. I also just realized now when reading this that the IDE has a search box after having used the IDE for quite some time.
@devs Maybe put "Filter.." in there or something for more obviousness?
