Different / toggle play modes

Hi I'm looking for a bit of assistance. At the moment I have a custom action for play that when I hit space the play head goes back to the start of the selected region and it works OK. Now I'm trying to chop a break and this action is no good as I need the playhead to stay where I stopped it. Is there a way to toggle the behaviour of my spacebar/ play stop action. I'm still fairly new to reaper so any help would be hugely appreciated, cheers.

If you want to keep the play cursor at the current position, you can use for instance, Transport: Play/pause instead of Transport: Play/stop.

Otherwise how does your Custom Action currently look like?

Hey solver, thanks for reply, I'll check out cycle actions. At the moment I just have; go to start of loop, transport play/stop.

I just use 2 keys for stopping play back.
Space - go back to where play started
Enter - stop at play cursor
