Default Power outage deleted file contents

I was editing a .eel file in reapers editor when the power flickered and my ups batteries had died. When I rebooted the file was empty. Maybe there could be a backup made while editing.

Reaper's own editor never makes backups.

Sublime Text has a really cool backup feature where you never lose any text. You don't even need to save the file for it to keep your work.

Pretty lame that your UPS system failed just when you needed it to work...

That's a badly designed UPS...

I'm using some UPS batteries that served four years in a UPS. After that, almost a decade as power for my son's electrical Quad. About one third have failed since.

I service a few dozen UPS units. Never seen one with failing batteries.

Today it wont even turn on. New batteries friday. Lithiums last 10 years but are $200 vs $40 for lead acid that average 3 to 5.

I created a Feature-Request for temporary backups of unedited changes:

I can't even open Script: "Mouse_position_dependant_actions.eel" in sublime text without the same problem as before. There aren't even spaces in the name.

Why is it seemingly impossible to use an external editor ?

You have to install something extra for it to work with ReaScript.
