Default Automated Volume, Giving a Chainsaw Effect?

I'm sure this will be easy to achieve, but it's beyond me how to do it.

I'm wanting to automate the volume of a sample so that every nth of a second the volume cuts off for a given amount of time - or maybe dips to a quarter of its volume - before cutting back in again. Like a chainsaw, I suppose, or the cawing of a crow.

Any ideas about how that might be achieved?

Thinking the OP wants a chop tremolo sound, if so a square wave but will need to be careful that it doesn't 'tick'. Parameters in automation items should do it though.
