Default Help. Automation now working properly?

Hello everyone
so yea, I trying Reaper and so far the experience has been Good but I have just found an issue with it. I am recording automation on a midi track but it is not showing on the automation interface...I mean, I CAN record the automation (in fact, with I open the midi file, the automation is there) but it is not showing in the main view.

Anyone can help?

Also, what is the best way to record automation while doing midi overdubs in Reaper (i'm used to just actívate the overdub function in DP)

Attaching image for a better explanation

Edit: sorry, title should be "NOT"

Not sure if this is your issue but in preferences, envelope display, you choose options on how to display envelopes globally.
And per track right click on the trim button for options per track.
Hope this helps.

Well, now i know about those menus which is great, thanks...but it is not really what I am looking for.

What I am trying to do is to be abe to see the midi automation (the one that is in the MIDI edit window) as actual automation under the MIDI track.

Funny thing is that if I manually move the faders inside my virtual instrument interface, the automation does move as well...but if I record the Expression or mod Wheel with my keyboard, it Will only afect the MIDI edit window

Ah, I see.
I only use very rudimentary midi, then automate volume and mute, just basic envelopes on the track.
I'm sure someone more into midi use will chime on if that's possible and how to achieve it.

mixing apples and orangutans I think

there are a couple diff things that you are calling 'automations'

on is a lane in the TCP below the track... like vol, pan, or various controls for the VSTi or other FX on the track...

but then in the MIDI Ed., below the notes are other lanes... called CC lanes
you normally see the velocity lane but can add as many others as you like
and there are lanes for vol, program change, expression, etc.

Now it can get tricky to see a lot of those in the ME.... so there is a helper script with a nice GUI called CC Ryder... made by Lokasenna... you can get it via Reapack... just search for it...
It will let you save and recall up to 20 cc lane snapshots... not snapshots of events in the lanes but of which cc lanes are visible at a given time...
To make it work you also need to edit a line in the S&M.ini file [found in the resources folder for reaper... like this:

S&M_SETCCLANES_ME=20 ; [MIDI Editor] Restore displayed CC lanes, slot n
S&M_SAVECCLANES_ME=20 ; [MIDI Editor] Save displayed CC lanes, slot n

find those lines [around #223 or so] and set the value as shown to =20
and save the .ini

After some testing I realized that I had my keyboard set to "enabled" but wasn't using it as an input for control messages.

After doing that, I was able to MIDI learn CCs so they show as automation on the TCP...the issue is that the CC lanes act as a separated element and now if I want to edit something I have to do the work twice.

I am going to give to the CC Ryder plugin to see if it helps.

Otherwise, I guess I'll give up. It is not that problematic to work just with the CC lanes
