Default how does the JS stereo enchancer work

what does it do exactly to the audio?

is it just controlling the panning? or how does it do what it does?

thanks!

It splits the signal into low and high frequencies, converts into mid/side and amplifies or attenuates the side part of the low and high frequencies separately. Then it sums together the full signal and outputs that. There's no delay.

You can check the code yourself, it is an ordinary text file.

With mid/side in general, increasing the mid or decreasing the side accomplishes about the same thing as panning the two channels of the stereo file inward. You can get exactly the same effect in default pan mode just by reducing the width control in the I/O panel, or in dual pan mode by panning both channels in by the same amount.

Decreasing mid or increasing side is different. It is more like if you took a copy of the stereo signal, inverted it, and then reversed the two channels and mixed it in with the original. You start to get an inverted copy of the opposite channel mixed into each channel, so that it starts to pull your brain out through your ears.
