I was hoping Arturia would reduce their Buchla Easel V ... instead you have to buy the whole V collection.
People don't seem so hyped about the sales this year; maybe we're getting to saturation point. Speaking of which, I was disappointed that Soundtoys haven't reduced Decapitator - their only other one I might be interested in is EchoBoy, but I don't really want to pay €79. I don't feel I really need any of them.

Melodyne essential 50%.
Is that good? I was hoping for assistant or editor.
You can buy the essential and then upgrade to editor of a total of $198

meh
this year seems underwhelming ...
maybe coz I already got Fathom and Synthmaster at an earlier sale.....and those two kinda took care of the itch I had since camel snuffpimped their beautiful lovely daughter Alchemy to crapple.
seen nothing new in drums that hasn't been done before, often better.
the other day I played drumasonic luxury on my alesis pads after a while, and man that kit still smokes everything that came after.
sigh

So far I've only grabbed McDSP Fuzzbox and Audiodamage Filterstation. Fuzzbox is a nice automatable smashbox and convolver with a bunch of useful IRs, with low CPU use. I've already put it to good use on a series today. Audio Damage stuff is always smoothly automatable. Perfect for me. A sidechainable filter.
I kinda have all I need. It's just flavours for me now.
Btw, the Harrison AVA plugins are all $29 each iirc. That's good stuff too.

Or we already bought everything! I got to the point I bought something twice after forgeting I already had it.
I went nuts last year working my ass off, money to spend but no time for music ! I compensate by buying shiny plugins !

Heh heh, no I've never repeated a single plugin purchase yet!
I have bought Komplete and sold off a couple of previous NI plugin licenses that were duplicated in that though. To be fair that's a big plus with NI plugins.
I haven't got that "get 'em all" bug thankfully. I won't pretend that I don't have almost redundant plugins though. 1st world problems...

After reading this I watched a few tutorials on Harmor and decided to buy it in the sale.
(Cheers Airon, RobU )
Just wondering if Edison is worth buying too, or is there a better (or free ) plugin that does the same? ie - a wave editor from which Harmor would recognise markers?
(They guy in the tutorial had assigned individual piano keys to each marker, and was triggering those points of the sample in Harmor, iirc).
Maybe Audacity does the same? Or is Edison better? I've never used any external editor - the only time I use my own samples is in Tal Sampler.
Cheers.

I have Acon Acoustica, and while it supports setting a loop region for use in a sampler, it doesn't do slicing / beat markers (as far as I can tell!). I don't think Audacity supports slicing either.
I didn't even notice Edison on the AudioDeluxe page, but it looks pretty neat - off to watch some YouTube...

Hi All
Long time user but first time poster
I’ve been looking for a good orchestral library for a while, but can’t afford the big boys out the which undoubtedly offer quality but at a price that’s beyond me.
I note that Halion Symphonic Orchestra is on sale for BF at $100.
What’s the view on this library? I’m particularly interested in:
1) sample quality
2) flexibility - particularly in terms of articulation
3) compatibility with reaper - I seem to remember some general Halion compatibility issues with reaper but that was a while ago and may no longer apply.
I’ve looked at reviews on the product and they generally seem to be quite positive, but it looks like it’s been around for a while and am a bit concerned that those reviews are of their time and won’t stack up against what’s available now.
Any feedback greatly appreciated
Cheers

If you have been looking at the best pro packages you are going to be disappointed in the older budget software, if you don't have realistic expectations regarding their limitations.
Suggest instead NI Kontakt 6 in the sale. That opens up a world of other sample libraries at a later date, and also provides a lot of orchestral sounds in the library too.
Many affordable libraries use the Kontakt format.
Get Drum Mica first.
Full free Kontakt product that only needs Kontakt player but qualified users to upgrade to full Kontakt via "crossgrade" after registering it with NI*:
http://sennheiser.us/drummica.html
*Hopefully they still honour this.

Hi Softsynth,
Thanks for the reply.
Yep, that’s what I was worried about.
I have full Kontakt 5, but any orchestral instruments in the base package don’t give me what I need in terms of sample and articulation variability. I like the 8dio stuff but - again - it’s expensive to get the range I’m looking for. You get what you pay for I guess.
Coming to conclusion i’ll Just need to save up and get them one piece at time.
Cheers

$100 pff!,
Halion Orchestra is just £34 from Steinberg themselves in B.Friday. It might be worth adding for that price (modest expectations).
Use code:

LASS Lite 2 and LASS First Chair 2 are on big discount: https://audiobro.com/ab-store/
I've got First Chair (only interested in ensemble, and not orchestral music), and it sounds really good. The legato is incredible.

Softsynth,
Cheers, missed the bit about the code - I think i’ll save the cash towards something better
Judders, thank you - first chair does sound good, but looking for ensembles - may have a dig into some of their other libs
