Default Midi in DAW with Kontakt plugin

Hello!
Is it possible to playback MIDI songs at DAW like Reaper with plugin Kontakt - that will show pressed notes on the keyboard?

Have you already tried the suggestions from this thread?: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=238103
Another option to try is using Kontakt's built-in virtual keyboard for this: https://support.native-instruments.c...missing-en-us-

Or are you referring with 'show pressed notes on the keyboard' to something else?

Thanks!
The first not, the second has a virus according to Virustotal
And Reaper itself can use midi with VST connected to Kontakt virtual keys to show pressed notes?

Also have you tried Piano Display? Can you send a link? Is it good?

A link to Piano Display can already be found via the first link I posted above (see post #2: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=238103 - which leads to this post: https://forums.cockos.com/showpost.p...01&postcount=3).

The general steps for installing Piano Display are:
  1. Installing ReaPack: https://reapack.com/user-guide#installation
  2. Adding Geraint's JSFX repository (https://geraintluff.github.io/jsfx/index.xml) via Extensions > ReaPack > Import repositories: https://reapack.com/user-guide#import-repositories
  3. Searching for Piano Display via Extensions > ReaPack > Browse packages: https://reapack.com/user-guide#browse-packages
  4. Right-Clicking the 'Piano Display' entry and choosing Install to mark the entry for installation: https://reapack.com/user-guide#actions
  5. Closing the 'Browse packages' dialog afterwards via the OK button
  6. After successful installation, you should have a JS: Piano Display plugin entry in the FX Browser

Kontakt's built-in virtual keyboard shows incoming notes that the Kontakt plugin receives from a MIDI item or MIDI controller (side note: requires having an instrument loaded inside the Kontakt plugin though).

Can't remember exactly, but I think that the built-in Flash MIDI editor keys on track input option in Reaper's Preferences > Editing Behavior > MIDI Editor (post #4 in the suggestions thread) only works for external MIDI input on a Track (as example: from a MIDI controller). And not for MIDI coming from a MIDI item on another Track (as example: routing MIDI from Track 1 to Track 2).

Yes, as I already tried to explain in my previous post:

In addition, here's a little example showing Kontakt and some of the plugins mentioned in the suggestion thread link in post #2: https://imgur.com/a/98YeNM3

Thanks
Here is what I look for.
And how to insert MIDI file into a track in Reaper?

Also it shows a message about CASIO synth. Must it be plugged? I loaded as a media file.

There are several ways to do this. To list a few examples:
  • Via the Insert > Media File main menu
  • Via View > Media Explorer
  • Via drag & drop from an external file explorer into the Reaper window

In general, I'd highly recommend to check out the User Guide (https://www.reaper.fm/userguide.php) and Videos section (https://www.reaper.fm/videos.php), since a lot of topics are already covered there (like, for instance, about working with MIDI).

I've uploaded file but there's no virt keyboard and message about MIDI plugging!

HOw to plug Virt Keyboard of Kontakt to the screen?

Also there's a virtual k-board of Reaper. But shows no notes.

Midi plays at Reaper, sound is hearable at VSTI but with a strange tempo, and without keyboard. Help is needed.

This warning message is shown when MIDI controllers/keyboards that are enabled in Reaper's MIDI preferences are currently not connected or powered on.
It's possible to disable this warning via the Do not show this window again checkbox at the bottom of the dialog or via the corresponding option under Preferences > Audio.

In general, the MIDI controller/keyboard should be connected or powered on before launching Reaper to be recognized. Otherwise there's a [Reset all MIDI Devices] option: https://reaperblog.net/2015/09/quick...-midi-devices/

More info about the MIDI Device management functions is shown here: https://youtu.be/2xPR4xwEysE?t=16

By pressing the [F3] function key or via the 'Keyboard' option in the corresponding Kontakt menu (the third button in the top row), as mentioned and shown in the link in post #2:

Reaper's own 'View > Virtual MIDI Keyboard' doesn't have such a functionality.

Hello!
Thanks a lot.
F3 doesn't work, also in Kontakt instrument I don't see the keyboard button.
The tempo is a bit strange.

UPD: got the button, works normally - seems to be... and chords can be displayed also?
Also is the instrument always corresponds to the MIDI file?
Or I must set any?
Cam it be done automatically - assigning VSTis to MIDI channels?
Thanks a lot!!

As far as I know, Kontakt's built-in virtual keyboard does not display chord names.

Kontakt automatically assigns different MIDI channels to each Kontakt instrument. As example:
  • Kontakt Instrument 1: MIDI channel [A] 1 <-- which is MIDI channel 1 on port A
  • Kontakt Instrument 2: MIDI channel [A] 2 <-- which is MIDI channel 2 on port A
  • ...
Checking and matching the MIDI channels of the MIDI files and/or MIDI notes to the Kontakt Instruments (or the other way around) is usually something that needs to be done manually.
MIDI channels can be set in the Info panel of each Kontakt Instrument header.

More info in the 'Defining a MIDI Port and Channel for your KONTAKT Instrument' chapter in this article: https://support.native-instruments.c...ler-in-KONTAKT
And in the Kontakt user manual: https://www.native-instruments.com/e...t-6/downloads/

Using Track Templates can also be a useful option for setting up Kontakt tracks:
