Rather than a bunch of links, some of which are duplicates, I've compiled a powerful & useful list of ~15 suites which goes IN-DEPTH into each suite/soft here

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...x1TirK/pubhtml

documenting:
* Convention (fuma/ambix)
* Price
* Inputs
* Order
* Manipulators
* Effects
* Meters
* Converter
* Decoder
* Notes

Well done, a very useful document.

But the Facebook 360 suite is not limited to 8 channels TBE and supports up to 3rd order regular ambisonics. TBE is actually only needed for exporting video for compatible players.

Ooh.... What have I gotten myself into here?!!!
Seriously though, good stuff guys. I'll go through all this over the weekend and update the lists.

Junh, that's a great resource you have compiled. I'll add a link to the top of the software list for easy reference. IMHO, your list will be a good companion to the clickable links.

Apologies everyone. It's been a crazy week here and I haven't had a chance to go through these lists yet. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get everything done this weekend.

Default Ambisonics Using Facebook Plugin Suite

I haven't yet looked into compatibility of the Facebook plugin suite mentioned in the following blog about Ambisonics in ProTools but it is an interesting read/watch.
I have yet to listen to the audio from these videos on headphones but I'm keen to hear how effective the Facebook suite is at creating Binaural output.

Have a look at this...

Rather than create a NEW thread for every new software that we find and litter the forum with 30 dead threads over some months, why not just re-use this thread to discuss new software? Then we can reference the links into the 1st post easier, and consolidate discussion.

(or would people rather make a dedicated thread for this kinda stuff?)

Most of us already have "mature" workflows . As we probably won't switch , the discussion of new softwares will probably die down quickly, as we have seen. If the need arises, we can make new threads for active discussion.

@Dave: We don't mind if you're late to reply. We understand implicitly without you needing to tell us. I have a few replies to do , too, as I wasn't aware of those threads until recently.

Good call. I've just merged the other thread into this one. It will appear earlier than your post because moving works in chronological order.

For the record, that topic isn't so much about ProTools (I have no desire to go back there) but more about the Facebook plugins.

RPR4 supports 64ch, which can support 7oa (3d pty). I think the status quo is that people are happy with 3d pty.

In other news, you may find this DAW surround support useful (but rather incomplete & messy)

As the maker of the Acousmodules series (http://acousmodules.free.fr) I am obviously happy with 3rd party tools ;-)

But I know also that most people relay on integrated ones, and since ambisonics is now fashionable and since a HOA panner is a lot easier to conceive than the ReaSurround, so why not in Reaper like in Protools and Nuendo ?

Here's a link just posted to the sursound mailing list of a documentary about Michael Gerzon and his pioneering work on Ambisonics.

For my own sanity, I tried to organise the information about free spatialisation plugins into a somewhat structured list.

It's a bit too long for a direct post, so if anyone's interested, you can find it here:
