v5.79 behaving erratically in Win 10 (SOLVED)
I have been working with Reaper all week (as a potential Cubase convert) and, unfortunately, have come across many issues. It seems the program (or at least v5.79 on Win 10) is unstable. I can do the exact same thing two different times and get two different results (please see my other post here about FX blowing up on Take exit).
For example, I inserted FX on a track yesterday and it worked fine until I tweaked a setting and the entire track waveform disappeared! Could not get it to show up without closing and reopening Reaper. I've had many other such weird things happen.
I've tried to duplicate these issues and they DON'T duplicate!
I'm not sure what to make of this and it's disappointing. I want to love Reaper but I can't work with a DAW that is this unpredictable. I've always heard that Reaper is very stable and "resource light". So far I'm not seeing that... Any suggestions or is this what I can expect from Reaper?

MY APOLOGIES regarding this post. I was running Reaper in "Administrative Mode" thinking it provided additional permissions to soundcards, files, etc.
I read another post somewhere that said NOT to run Reaper this way and - sure enough - it works MUCH better! (Curious, though, why such a big difference?)

Thank you.

I run Reaper as admin and zero issues whatsoever.

Hi ED,
do you really mean the "Run As Administrator" command?
Or just that you are running REAPER under account which has admin privileges?
That are two different things, I think.

:-D OK, then yes.
But it is also interesting, because some problems were reported here at the forum when using "Run As Admin". I just can recall only the Drag'n'Drop not working but there was more of them.

Drag and drop won't be working if you drag from a non-elevated application into an elevated application. That is by design in Windows.

Ohh, yes, that was it.
BTW, out of curiosity only, why are you running Reaper like this (I mean Ruan As admin.. under Admin account)? (I am just "simply" running it in my admin account, and never needed more..., everything always worked).

Which setting did you tweak?

Dunno, habit. I run everything in admin mode. Except UWP apps can't do that, so it's a bit of a pain sometimes.
