Default New plugin idea - vocal doubling

Just something that's been kicking around in my head recently after some not so good recording sessions.

Maybe there's already something out there that does this (or it can be done through a collection of things), and the tech certainly exists, but I can't think of anyone that's put it together...(would be happy to be told otherwise).

Say you have a vocal track. All good, pretty decent take. You want to double that, so you have the vocalist do another take to get that doubled, thick sound. Unfortunately, the vocalist is not that great, and is real sloppy on the double, coming in at slightly different times, and dragging notes out too long. What if there was a plugin that you could put on the second take, that took the first take in a sidechain and allowed you to move/stretch the vox to fit the first take rhythm wise, with an amount slider that varied from 0% (no changes) to 100% rhythm shifted to match exactly the first take. It seems like it would be a very handy tool.

I imagine it would need melodyne level tech to hit the words/phrases accurately (and you could probably do it with melodyne given a fair bunch of mucking around with exported midi tracks from it's analysis).

So, does this exist already?

or me typing that could be a complete waste of time. Synchro Arts VocAlign looks like it does what I want...

F*(k plugins.

Roll your sleeves up and edit that sh67 the old fashion way... with a mouse.

Auto correct the crap out of the double and just line the waves up. No plugin is going to make decisions better than you can. If this task is not worth putting your brain power to, it ain't worth doing.

Yeah, it's what I do currently, but it's very very tedious... although, I don't tend to pitch correct that often at all, just a nudge here and there.

Yes, it already exists, it's called VocAlign.

Raper has ReaTune (Melodyne style). But why it has not ReaLine (Vocalign Style)?

Yep, but last time I checked, it couldn't be run in Reaper because it is a vst3, unfortunately.

That's how I do it, and it works very well. Vocals are quite easy to edit.

I tend to use ADT in combination with actual doubling and tedious editing, not instead of it. It's cool but not exactly natural-sounding, at least in my experience.

there is no substitute for a real double but if the 2nd take is not close to the first adt would be my choice.
