Default [5.70+] Piano roll editor - left click "deselection" fails

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Midi: Piano roll editor - deselect failure
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Set the mouse modifier

--> context: MIDI piano roll
--> mouse-action: left click
--> to: "*Deselect all notes".

Now do this: Open the piano roll editor, draw some notes, select
some of these notes, for instance with "right click marquee-select".
Then "left click" into the piano roll editor at the empty space between
the notes. You'll realize: Not a single note gets deselected!

Reaper Version 5.79/64, no SWS, Windows-10/64

Can somebody please confirm?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there a workaround?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, you can instead "left click" at the parameter space
below (at the "cc-lane). All notes get deselected.

Of course you can "<alt>+left click" for deselection also.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
But ...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

... it is a little annoying for me. I am accustomed to this plain
mouse behaviour (from Logic and Cubase), and first I thought:
"Hey, you can set this mouse-behaviour in Reapers preferences".
But it doesn't work! It would be so much finer if the deselection
would work with a pure left click only.

I know there's a "bestiary" of midi bugs ...

For me it works as expected (Mac OS X). Apparently a Windows issue.

Default Final word

As a final word I'd like to say that probably this bug will be
seen by new users only. That is because after a time
everyone who is using Reaper will apply keycommands
to set the mouse-behaviour.

The setting via keycommands assigned to actions
works perfectly, and thus this "starter-bug" is forgotten.
But: It still exists.
