Default High end signal generator?

There are all kinds of sub-kick generators around, but what if I wanted to reinforce some top end on something?

Compciter works well for that, at least on drums. I've used it on snare, toms and kick. It's not a pristine-sounding high end, so it works well for drums.

There are also a couple exciter plugins in Reaper.

Plus there's "Sonic Enhancer" by Liteon from the pack at the bottom of the first post:

The "CV" control is to affect how the plugin reacts, dynamically.

I'll give these a try.

I've had good results with:

Audio Assault FreakQ 305
https://audioassault.mx/collections/...ucts/freakq305

and XCTR
https://audioassault.mx/collections/.../products/xctr

XCTR is a bit fancier, FreakQ usually gets the job done just fine for me. Reasonably priced, and they have frequent sales.

I also liked the OG, BBE Sonic Maximizer, but oof that's $250 now.

Oh and before I got FreakQ I loooved Voxengo Overtone GEQ:
https://www.voxengo.com/product/overtonegeq/

Still highly recommended especially for the price, free. It's a bit of a black box, twiddle the sliders and see type thing but can be very good. I got FreakQ because I wanted more control, but now they have several more full featured options I might have to look into 'cause it does sound real good.

Good luck!

I've seen FreakQ before, but I didn't know it was an exciter.

I like free stuff, so Overtone GEQ is a strong contender.

I use ReaEQ to tweak highs, a bit of reverb (TAL) and then a bit of distortion (KiloHearts distortion) to excite the high ends, and then shifting them around to see what sounds best.
