Default Any idea why some of my guitar was missing after rendering?

It was freaky...never had this happen before. I've remixed the shit out of this song over the last month....anyway.....I rendered it, then I was going to tweak the mix or self master.....when it got to the chorus there was about 5 seconds of lead guitar missing. Sooooo, I brought up the project again.....checked it all out....it was all there, so I render again.....and now there was about 5 seconds of fills missing from the same guitar track, but in a different spot. Soooo, I brought the project up again, and again checked and it was all there. Howthefuckever, there was all of these pauses and crackles and shit going on that wasn't going on earlier. So, I rebooted and then rendered and everything was perfect so it's a happy ending. But it got me thinking.....why was it only on that guitar track both times, and why did it do it at all? If this had been a back ground vocal or something, I might not have noticed it was missing until long after I had a hit song.

Ever have this happen?

Usually when this happens it's either a synthedit plugin or you have a track routed directly to hardware out instead of to the master out. Is spanner the soundtoys plug or something different?

speaking only for myself here, but by any chance, in options, did you have the "anti suck" button engaged?
i know when i do that, reaper refuses to render any playing that even is remotely lame. sometimes it deletes the whole song.

No I had to uncheck the "anti suck" button way back when or I couldn't get anything at all......but, Spanner is just a pan knob that was made by someone that hangs out around here. I can't think of what his name was. It's a nice little pan knob though...that's all it does.

ok, looks like spanner is an unsupported VST. my money's on it being non-threadsafe, which would cause that problem.

if you need to keep using it, right-click it in the fx browser (where all the fx are) and select 'run as dedicated host'.
