Default Problems with trimming

Hi guys.

Wanted to do something that I thought should be a simple operation but clearly not. Want to just trim the end of the audio. Went on youtube and it says to left click the end of the wave and drag. Cool, I did that and it attempts fading it every single time instead of trimming so not doing what I want. Tried click different regions etc, still attempts fading instead of trimming. Surely something so simple shouldn't be so fucking sophisticated. Sheesh.

Check your Options, Prefs, Mouse modifiers, Media item edge.
Should be Move edge (relative edge edit).

Make sure the mouse is placed over the edge, about half way down is good, not on the media item itself.

Shift left drag should also work.

Also check your Lock settings (right click on padlock icon), make sure item edges aren't locked.
