Media Explorer - changing structure
Hi!
It seems to me that Media Explorer would be much more convenient if it did not have a separate input to each folder, but if it would display everything in one list.(see screenshots)
Is it possible to implement this?
Thanks!

What do you think of Bitwig's browser? Top half shows the folders, bottom half shows the samples for the selected folders. It's kind of ingenious imo and I haven't found any other browser that works as good.
In Reaper it's kind of hard to search for "snare" and then quickly jump between different sample packs to show their snares.

I worked in Studio One and Fl Studio (although it was a long time ago) and I like browsers there.
In Bitwig's unfortunately I didn't work, but I like the idea.
And in the Reaper, unfortunately, it is very difficult to jump from folder to folder and back.

That's interesting because I had the complete opposite experience with Studio One's browser. I found it cumbersome for jumping between different folders (like I showed in Bitwig). Maybe I'm missing something.

I compared studio One to the Reaper, in studio One you need to scroll more, but it's still easier than constantly leaving the folder and only then looking for a new folder.
But in Bitwig at first glance, I even liked the way it works better.

+1. This could be done with a folder tree under Shortcut list (and possibly accommodate shortcuts into the tree as well) and a subsequent option to show/hide folders in the browser area.

+100000000000000 for the Bitwig style browsing with the 2 windows... one for the folder structure, one for the content.

EDIT: I misunderstood the FR and made an irrelevant comment against it.

If you are now satisfied with everything, then I will assume that you do not work with samples a lot.

In the OP screenshot example for example it is easy to understand that the audio files belong to "KSHMR Drop Claps" but it is impossible to see whether that one is a subfolder of "KSHMR_Clap FX" or whether both are subfolders of "KSHMR Claps".
|
What's not clear to you here ? The margins speak for themselves!
You can clearly see that there are eight folders in the " KSHMR Claps" folder
" KSHMR_Church_Claps"
" KSHMR_Clap_FX"
" KSHMR_Drop_Caps"
" KSHMR_Natural_Hand_Claps"
" KSHMR_Pre-Shifted_caps"
" KSHMR_Regular_Claps"
" KSHMR_Stadium_Claps"
" KSHMR_Trap_Claps"
and the " KSHMR_Drop_Caps" folder is open

Oh actually I was not at the Reaper when I wrote this and thought the left screenshot shows how it is now while the right screenshot shows what you want.
Actually now that I checked it, one has to double click folders to see their contents. I guess I just didn't bother much because I have all my most used sample (sub)folders accessible on the ME shortcut part.
The left OP screenshot (as in your last comment) is actually a very good suggestion, better than how it is now.
I am still not in favour of the other two options (without indentation or folders and files separated).
Sorry for the irrelevant previous comment, will edit it out.
So +1 from me for the version with indented subfolders!
