Default Can't find the I/O

Hey, I have the evaluation version as I am just trying this out to make sure it works. I JUST got the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 firewire I/O. I plugged it into my mac g4 (dual 1.25 ghz).

My assumption was to go to the "preferences -> Device" pane, but all I see is the default system devices, none, and built in audio.

I have the saffire plugged in and it's reading on the mac's firewire port. It's switched on. But I don't see it listed as a device. So not sure if:
a. the evaluation version doesn't allow for this?
b. my computer is messed up?
c. the I/O is messed up?
d. I am an idiot (most likely).

Can anyone help? Thanks!

the evaluation version is fully functional so you can rule that out.
and i highly doubt your computer is "messed up"

you don't see it in Reaper- options- preferences- audio- devices?

nope, it's not there. I have restarted, i have tried other firewire ports on the unit and on the computer. It lists the unit under the computer firewire port, but does not show up in reaper.

anyone else have this issue?

You need the latest (for G4) installation of the Tiger (10.4.11), than
install drivers for the device. Quote from Focusrite website:
Saffire Mix Control 1.8
07 Dec 2009

This version of Saffire Mix Control is the most recent version to retain compatibility with
OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger). Any Tiger users should install this update for the additional
features listed in the attached Release Notes.

I am fairly certain that it's updated, but that could be the situation. I know that the mix controlsoftware for 10.4 is a rollback based on what it comes with. I already tried installing 1.8 and it wasn't allowing me too - so maybe it's based on a 10.4 issue.

Thanks for that heads up and I will try again.

Well it's updated, just confirmed. I sent an email to focusrite, there is some issue with it because it's telling me there is nothing to install once I get to the install part. Something is messed up.
