Default Focusrite Saffire Pro40 Firewire? Or others?

Hey all,

Still planning/plotting my move to Reaper from PT. Since I have to use 10.4 with Reaper and my Digi001 sadly will NOT work in 10.4, I probably have to get a new damned I/O.

I just got laid off so I have a very little budget (and no income) but want to get a nicer rig going so I can try and get some income going with some recording projects in the home studio.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Seems pretty good for $380 or so. Anyone have any good luck with this on a Mac platform? I have a G4 Dual 1.25 MDD.

Any and all help is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

well my answer is yes yeah! yesyeah

I've just got on for my Macbook Pro and I love it - its totally reliable.

I use is for recording gigs as well as sessions, I've had 10tracks into it for recording drums and it did that with no bother at all!

highly recomended!

Hi, I just got one! But beware: I'm no recording pro, just startin' off. But I do have an eye for software and hardware quality and I like what I see: This unit looks sturdy and well built, the Saffire Mixer Software is way cool. I had an Alesis I/O 26 to for comparison. Whereas the sound (to my beginner's ears) was not that different, the software is.

Focusrite offers a lot routing flexibility (I don't need right now), is way more intuitive to use and looks way better. For you this probably will translate to: Open box - install stuff - get to work fast. :-)

You'll love it I'm sure.
Give it a try,
HeyJoe

P.S.: Some people critisized that the gain "knobs" don't work linearly but seem to be tuning fine in the first 2/3s and rather rough at the end. True. I takes some getting used to if your sound sources are rather fine and low key or your mikes have less sensitivity. But ... no big deal here.

I use my Pro40 in Reaper and other apps like Live and have had zero issues.
