Default Great work!

Hey Mike!

Just thought I’d make my first post a positive one!

I just got an X-Touch and use MixBus and Reaper as my two main DAWs. MB has built in support for the X-Touch and I’ve only put off getting one as I love recording in Reaper so wanted decent interoperability in that as well.

I set up CSI last night and dropped your .mst and zon files in. Painless, seamless and almost as good as the official integration in MB. Thank you so much! It means I can now focus on setting up my VI’s, plugins and fx etc.

Great work!

Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if something don't work or what functions you are missing. I will try to extend it in the future.

Cheers, Mike

Thank you for your work.
EDIT:
In the beggining this happen to me:
I can move the faders from reaper and x touch reflect it and move it, but when i try to move from X touch it doesnt reflect on reaper. After 3 secords the fader return to the original position.

Later i tried to use the action CSI Edit mode and check show mode input from surfaces. After that, the fader doesnt return to inital position but some other faults is happening:
-Everty time i push "select" from track doesnt work but cycle is lighted on surface
-PRevious Fader bank doesnt work
-next channel doesnt work

There is a huge delay between any movements and the effect on reaper

Hm - that sound strange.
Have you disabled the input/outputs of the x-touch in the midi device settings?
Or have you changed some settings in reaper?

Yes. I cannot enable it meanwhile i use original MCU or CSI. Reaper report an error when i try to enable it.
I will try in other computer starting from scratch.

By the way, im courious, you think it will possible to make a configuration to use the 2nd row of scribb to show more characters of track name? Upper row is limited to 7 characters.

You can download a fresh version from reaper.fm and install it as portable.
After this, you can configure it again as you want it (Midi/ CSI).
Are there any issues, too?

Felix!

You should stricktley follow the installation gute from the Wiki:
https://github.com/malcolmgroves/reaper_csi/wiki

I will check if it is possible to show the rest of the track name on the lower display part, but i like that it shos normally the panning or the automation mode.
Cheers, Mike

Thank you all. Using a fresh reaper portable install its working

Looks like there is something in my previous installation that is not compatible.
I will make a step by step migration of configuration to this new portable install to try to debug what happened.

Thank you very much!. If its possible i will investigate to tune it by my self.
For me, the panning information with the rotatory knob led is enough.
in the other hand I think dB are useful once you move the fader like is working now.

My pain mixing with xtouch is to use cryptics names for tracks.
For example a track like "Guitar1 Chorus delay" need to crop to "gt1chdl" to recognice it in the surface. Maybe with color in scribble could be easier also.

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing this.

Whilst I don't have any of that hardware, seeing your syntax and style of script has been very helpful.

I’m testing it out and have one problem.
I have my extender as channel 1-8 and the main unit as 9-16.
Now it main first then ext.
How to I change that?

Hi Hakan,

have you checked your ini file?

From Wiki:
The order in which the surfaces appear governs how the channels display. Suppose you had a surface with 8 Faders and an extender with 8 Faders. If the surface is listed first it gets 1-8 and the extender gets 9-16, If you put the extender first the extender gets 1-8 and the surface gets 9-16.

Cheers,
Mike

Default Next version: 0.3

Hi all,

the next version will include handling of the Footswitch 1 input to start the recording.
Also the ReaEQ Plugin handling is improved.

Other things ongoing.

Do you have any wishes? Let me know.

Cheers,
Mike

I suppose, CFillion and Geoff need to talk about how this can be done.
I posted a request here -> https://forum.cockos.com/showthread....27&page=21#837 and I think I mentioned this in the main "CSI" thread several times.

Hi Mike,

I am trying to set things up with CSI and my X-Touch universal. Thanks a lot for your great work! I noticed that V0.2 of your config files added support for the zoom button LED and that the zoom LED gets a special treatment with a widget and zone of its own unlike all other LEDs. But I can't get it and the scrub LEDs to work.

I experimented a bit and found that CSI does not send a response to the X-Touch when these buttons are pressed. Maybe that's because unlike the other buttons, scrub and zoom only change the behaviour of the X-Touch, but are not linked to any function in Reaper? Or is there anything else I need to do to get these LEDs to light up?

As I am still a CSI noob, maybe you can help me with a few other things:

- The clip indicator LEDs on the channel strips don't work either, but that problem also exists with Klinke MCU. Is that a general X-Touch problem because these LEDs are outside the MCU specification?

- How can CSI be adapted to FX plugins? Does this have to be manually programmed for each one or is there a handy editor like in Klinke MCU for lazy people like me?

- Can the behavior of the VU meter, e.g. how quickly it drops after the signal, be controlled via CSI as well or is that hardcoded into the X-Touch?

Thanks!

No editor, but raw fx zone files can be generated automatically. You then edit them to taste. The procedure is described here: https://github.com/malcolmgroves/rea.../wiki/FX-Zones

Hi,
Where is the latest release? I currently have version 0.2, and whilst I've got around the foot pedal problem, it would be nice to get the built in support for it,
Thanks,

Thank you Mike for the configuration files.
This is what i have looked for so long.
Here is an issue about 0.2:
"Solo" button on extender didn't work. It's ok on X touch.
By the way, if you can make some more video about CSI , that will be great!

Default Behringer X-Touch

Hello ya all,
sorry for chiming in at 06:00 AM
I have a X-Touch and was thinking if I could use it with CSI.
My workflow depends heavily on folders.

Are these reflected in the CSI for the X-Touch?
Like in Klinke´s iteration for MCU (X-Touch)?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Hi,
seems like i need some help with this although this thread seems to be abandoned somehow.

I have disabled midi / CS input and MIDI output for my X-Touch and added CSI with X-Touch.mst and X-Touch Zones.

I also consider the latest CSI package to contain the most recent X-Touch support mst and zone files as they are dated 20/12 instead of the ones linke here which are 20/04.

The first thing i noticed is that the master fader won't come up when a project is opened and it also does not react to fader movement on the X-Touch.

When creating new tracks, the tracks are assigned to faders on the X-Touch and i can move these faders and the movement is reflected withint Reaper. When i press a track select button on the X-Touch, all faders return to their lowest position and will also return when moved manually. Pressing track select buttons on the x-touch still selects the right track.

So the integration seems to be broken for me at some point. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance to everyone.

Hi BlindFish,

i've added the most recent X-Touch files to this post. The ones in the CSI download have the master fader bug!
It's also postet here:
https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...ostcount=12477

The behavior of the Faders are correct.
When you press the "Track select" button the surface went into FX mode because it works in "OnTrackSelection MapSelectedTrackFXToMenu".

When you press "Global view" or "Cancel" it goes back to normal Track mode.

Regards, Mike

Hi Mike,
thanks for your support, i'll give it a try tomorrow. Maybe i need to label my XT buttons first with some braille markup just to make sure that i press the buttons intended and not causing unwanted behaviour myself :-).

[EDIT]
Just wanted to confirm that it's now working as expected. Will now have a closer look into the configuration files to find out where all the buttons are assigned to. It looks like this tactile surface could be a real game changer for my workflow. Thanks a bunch for sharing that.

Default Time Display not working

Hi Mike and others,

I am trying to set up my X-Touch with CSI and almost everything seems to work quite well, except for the time display (the red 7-Segment LEDs). I am using Mackie Control mode via USB.
I am running the latest Reaper, latest SWS and the latest CSI.

I also own an old Icon QCon Pro and that works without any problems with (almost) the same basic config files. On this surface the time display works ok.

When I use the X-Touch with the stock Reaper MCU driver, or the Klinke driver the Time display also works without problems, so it seems the hardware is ok.

I have tried the .mst and .zon files posted in this thread, and the time display just stays dark. Is it working for any of you? Is there something special I need to do to make it work?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Dixo

Time Display is working as expected for me.

Did you check that, in Preferences, the various In and Out ports are set to be disabled?

Hi BlindFish, thanks for your response!

Yes, the X-Touch is disabled in the Midi devices in the Reaper preferences.

And as I said, the display works ok with the stock Reaper MCU driver and the Klinke driver, using the same MIDI device in Reaper. It is just when I use it with CSI that the time display remains blank.

But good to know that it at least works for someone out there, so the error must be in my setup...

I am on Windows 10 by the way, not sure if that makes a difference?

To be complete:
- Windows 10
- Reaper v6.25
- CSI v1.0 (from the stash)

The behavior of the Faders are correct.
When you press the "Track select" button the surface went into FX mode because it works in "OnTrackSelection MapSelectedTrackFXToMenu".

When you press "Global view" or "Cancel" it goes back to normal Track mode.

I tried the latest version and jogwheel stops working. Does anyone have a such problem?

I just got the x-touch, and am stuck in the firmware update process. My "Reaper PC" is a Ryzen system, so the x-touch was not recognized. So I used my Surface Pro, it recognized the x-touch. I downloaded Midi-Ox and the firmware update.
This is the process:
Open MidiOx
Options --> Midi Devices --> select x-touch in Midi Inputs and Midi Outputs
Options --> check the last "Pass SysEx"
View --> SysEx.. --> Command Window --> Load File... (Load the Firmware file)
Still in SysEx window: File --> Send SysEx File

Upon clicking "Send SysEx File", a screen pops up with:
INetCache > IE > 7JSZX6Q9 is in the address window
The X-Touch Sysex update file listed in the main window
And it's asking me to type in a file name, and click "Open"

SO I'M LOST. What is that weird address? Do I need to change it? And what file name am I supposed to type in to "open"?

Why do you think that that might be related ?

That's a know problem of the Behringer X-Touch in combination with AMD-Chipsets, which is fixed in the latest firmware. But I think bcab17 has updated it's firmware in the meantime, as far as I understood it in other threads.
