Default Left Drag BPM field

Currently it is possible to change tempo in 2 ways:

- click the BPM field and type a value
- scroll over the BPM field

Clicking and typing is way to cumbersome if you're not that type of person that "sets and forgets" the tempo of a track but wants to adjust on the fly.

Scrolling works, but has a big disadvantage: it can happen (and for some reason to me it keeps happening) that one accidentally scrolls over the BPM field and changes the value. If you don't have a tempo map it is mostly easily fixable when you notice, but if you have a tempo map it can become a nightmare, specially if it happens on multiple points before you notice.

If it was possible to left drag the field, one could enable "Ignore mousewheel on transport edit fields" and easily adjust the tempo of the track, without having the constant risk of accidentally adjusting it.

Also, in my opinion, dragging to a specific value is more precise than scrolling because you have better control over the mouse when doing so. It keeps happening that I scroll up and down around the wanted value until I manage to scroll slowly enough to get it.

Bump. Please make it possible to adjust BPM by mouse-dragging. Anyone agrees?

I would be interested in this also, I was searching for how to do this because getting into scoring for picture this would be helpful, thanks everyone!

I'd like to see this!

(Customisable with a mouse modifier section, of course, so it could be right-drag, or modifier+whatever-button-drag.)

Great to see this request slowly getting some interest. Let’s hope it will happen someday.

It just occurred to me: it *should* be possible to implement this pretty quickly and easily as a GUI ReaScript, which can be docked pretty much wherever you like. (And you could then hide the native BPM thing, if you wanted.)

As such, I think this feature is totally within reach, and I wouldn't push to prioritise native implementation of this above other things (except that it's probably a _fairly_ trivial to implement natively :).

Here's a screenshot of my messy, WIP toolbar, which shows some examples of the kind of unobtrusive script I'm talking about: the black-on-white "1/8" box shows the current timeline grid setting, and the white-on-black "0.0 0.0" box shows the master peak level. The BPM bit is the native one though.

I didn't find this thread on my search somehow, so I created a dupe without knowing it here: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=250401

Yes, want. Mouse wheel too. Modifier for fine adjustments.

Would tie in nicely with my beats-linear timeline I've been asking about!
