Seems like SWS Snapshots is not even trying to match the tracks anymore.

Is it because of the dots in the track name?

second thing, not sure but seems that track polarity is not remembered by the snapshot.

Just tested here with "normal text" without fullstops and seems to work so it might be a use of an illegal character.

Hi,

As a coding know nothing, just a user of reaper, sws stuff feels more complete than some scripts which try to do some complicated things.
I use a few scripts, and for non complex things...like show all used cc s in midi take...work great and I am super appreciative of them.

But when it comes to things that are more complicated ....quantization while respecting tempo changes for ex.....there always seems to be a "gotcha".
Sws feels native.
Please don't misunderstand, Reaper would be far less richer WO scripts and the skill and effort of the scripters,IMO, but when I read the future is scripts,with less new sws, I worry.

But I have yet to donate to Breeder, whose tempo additions especially have made my musical life much richer. I mean, just the ignore project tempo thing for midi items, is worth more than I can afford. And to Jeffos, whose Cc hihat thing basicly changed my edrum life! I know its js, but I had to mention it. I know your still working w sws and i thank you.

Personally, I think cockos should hire the whole lot of the sws team. But the quality of my business choices probably is the reason I can't send 100 dollar donations:-)
Again, no disrespect for the scripters....I appreciate the skill, time and effort it must take. Just feeling a little "sws land tumbleweed paranoid"

Default 2 extensions is missing still

Hi. Overall SwS extension is super like extra hand(s) - but two actions is missing stilll and cant find them enywhere (looked through whole/or most of reaper and sws for that). I think if its possible to make them would be good or even necessary for most of users.

1 Action to set fade in and fade out of selected area of items/or item to 0.

Each new media have fade in and fade out at small level - and its good but sometimes just need to set selected items fade in and fade to 0 and makin it manually is painfull and time consuming/waste.

TIP:
I found action which makes it while glueing but its pain cause i dont want glue items while setting fade in and fade out to 0 only. Action name is:
GLUE ITEMS INCLUDING LEADING FADE-IN AND TRAILING FADE-OUT

2 Action to select track at cursor level.

Sometimes just want to operate on specific track with other buttons on keyboard than left click of mouse. Other buttons doesnt select track at level of actually operating track. Action which select track at cursor level could be usefull

FYI: Preferences -> Project -> Media Item Defaults -> "Create automatic fade-in/fade-out for new items"

Also the actions:

Item: Disable default fadein/fadeout
Item: Enable default fadein/fadeout
Item: Remove fade in
Item: Remove fade out
Item: Remove fade in and fade out
SWS: Set item fades to default length
SWS: Toggle default fade time to zero
Xenakios/SWS: Set fades of selected items to 0.0

...I have a feeling you can do what you need with those?

Is this what you seek?:

SWS/BR: Select MCP track under mouse cursor
SWS/BR: Select TCP track under mouse cursor

1 Yes. First action propositions help. THX. You are smart man !

2 No. This cant help cause i mean TCP track at level of cursor (vertically) [-Y level of cursor at arrange area] Action should select track at vertical level of cursor. For example for quick place new media item on track at actual vertical level of cursor without need to change track manually. Without this action - media item is placed on marked track but not at place of cursor so commonly is placed too high or too low...

3 I forget to mention. I have not found in SWS or REAPER - memorizing GRID size. No actions to save grid size and restore from memory or i just did not find these ? This action should bring back basic grid when changing grid size for custom actions. I think thats all.

I think I see: the actions I mentioned also don't toggle selection, they just add to the current selection. (edit: and they don't work in the arrange window)

But I may have found the answer, and you don't need SWS:

Track: Select track under mouse

I mapped it to a key and it seems to do what you describe?

So everything is in Reaper - just under some funky names -sometimes out of patterns and thats reason why so hard to find some action. Yeah GRID is funky without saving size so i using 1/16 for most time and i can live with this. THX AGAIN ! You saved me from painfull changing track manually.

Yes, a longstanding issue in Reaper. :-)

You bet -- you might ask around in the forums; there are tons of people doing serious work in that area with custom toolbars and scripts and so forth and i'm sure they have some solution in place...

Hello, I've always wished for a faster way to switch a track between different setups for audio input, MIDI input, recording, monitoring.

I would like to right click on a track and then instantly pick between some templates in the context menu:

(MIDI In), (In 1), (In 2), (In 1,2), (Default)

Each of these would apply a track template..

The MIDI In track template:
- Sets the input to my MIDI controller's MIDI input
- Enables input monitoring
- Enables automatic record arm when track selected

The In 1 track template:
- Set the input to channel 1 of my audio card.

Etc...

The default template:
- Set the input to none, record off, input monitoring off, record: input.

If the MIDI input or audio card changes, I can just edit the templates and the context menu entries stay dynamic and abstracted.

It would be awesome.

But the problem is that when I load the templates using _S&M_APPLY_TRTEMPLATE1 .. 4, it deletes all the plugins on the channel, deletes stuff on the track, everything gets totally cleared.

So there's no way to "apply" a template, only to "replace the track with a template"

It seems a new set of actions are needed which only apply the track input configuration, record state, monitoring state, "record:" mode, etc.

i.e. _S&M_APPLY_TRTEMPLATE_TRACKSETUP_01 .. 08

These actions would not delete the plugins or items or other things on the tracks, just change the track setup.

The current 04 limit is too low. I need 01 .. 08 actions because I use templates for (1), (2), (1,2), (3,4), (MIDI 1), (MIDI 2), (Default).

I think many could benefit from these actions for switching between MIDI and audio input setups and it would help with faster use of Reaper because Reaper doesn't distinguish between track types like some other DAWS.

Hi. I discovered some little painfull thing maybe i just miss something.

In Reaper is nice thing like making folder from group of tracks - Parent Folder. Yeah. Its nice. There is too option like moving envelopes with media items - Yeah it is and nice too. One thing is missing and its pain.

There is no option to move content of parent folders by making items in partent folder i mean this - when i make item on parent folder with moving envelopes with media items (on) there is absolutley necessary to be availible to use option like move media items and envelopes with parent folder items - to move content of parent folders in similiar rule like moving envelopes with media items. For example i make some musical pattern (like beat/melody etc.) on different tracks with envelopes on each i just put these to minimize state by putting in parent folder but i dont want to copy all indegrients sepaarately and maximizing folder and copying each track items separately. When i copy item on parent folder i want to copy content of children folders on area of item on parent folder too when indegrients tracks are minimized.

I dont know maybe i missing something but this thing is necessary to make idea of parent/children folder full i guess. Cause when i minimize parent folder what is the point if i cant copy area of this quickly in pattern rule like move media items in children tracks and envelopes with parent folder media items ? Yo. There is any rule to make this thing ?. Time saver and easier to focus on making musical patterns and most important for naming easy - whole parent folder sections and moving them.

Default Snapshot wildcard

Wish there was a wildcard for the snapshot name to use in renders:
"$project $day-$month-$year $minute-$second $snapshot"

You can edit S&M.ini in your AppData folder to get more of those kinds of actions usually up to 99. There's (some) instructions in the file itself.

I think SWS is in low gear at the moment. Here's a step towards what you describe anyway. I think it might be possible to do something more advanced that would take changing configurations into effect, but haven't figured it all out personally. (The numbers change) I think the second two things you mention should be possible with actions. So you would put the script in a custom action along with the regular actions too.

"Get" the code to paste in the other scripts:
Code:
// display input code for first selected track.eel

trk = GetSelectedTrack(0, 0);
trk ? (
  InputNum = GetMediaTrackInfo_Value(trk, "I_RECINPUT");
  ShowConsoleMsg(sprintf(#,"%{InputNum}i\n"));
):(MB("SELECT A TRACK!!!", "input code number", 0));
Some examples of "Set" the code:
Code:
//set selected tracks input to Audio 1.eel

input = 0;//paste it in place of 0

cst = CountSelectedTracks(0);
us = cst;
Undo_BeginBlock2(0);
loop(cst,
  SetMediaTrackInfo_Value(GetSelectedTrack(0, cst - 1), "I_RECINPUT", input);
  cst -= 1;
);
#u = sprintf(#,"Set %{us}i tracks input to Mono 1");
Undo_EndBlock2(0, #u, -1);
Code:
//set selected tracks input to Audio 2.eel

input = 1;

cst = CountSelectedTracks(0);
us = cst;
Undo_BeginBlock2(0);
loop(cst,
  SetMediaTrackInfo_Value(GetSelectedTrack(0, cst - 1), "I_RECINPUT", input);
  cst -= 1;
);
#u = sprintf(#,"Set %{us}i tracks input to Mono 2");
Undo_EndBlock2(0, #u, -1);
Code:
//set selected tracks input to Audio 1 and 2.eel

input = 1024;

cst = CountSelectedTracks(0);
us = cst;
Undo_BeginBlock2(0);
loop(cst,
  SetMediaTrackInfo_Value(GetSelectedTrack(0, cst - 1), "I_RECINPUT", input);
  cst -= 1;
);
#u = sprintf(#,"Set %{us}i tracks input to Stereo 1/2");
Undo_EndBlock2(0, #u, -1);
Code:
//set selected tracks input to sl mkII all channels.eel

input = 4192;

cst = CountSelectedTracks(0);
us = cst;
Undo_BeginBlock2(0);
loop(cst,
  SetMediaTrackInfo_Value(GetSelectedTrack(0, cst - 1), "I_RECINPUT", input);
  cst -= 1;
);
#u = sprintf(#,"Set %{us}i tracks input to SLmkII all");
Undo_EndBlock2(0, #u, -1);
edit- S&M.ini is probably here.
C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\REAPER
edit it when REAPER's off.

Default SWS Marker list region export: Missing end time, milliseconds

I need to export region data in a specific text format:

Code:
[start time HH:MM:SS.F] [end time HH:MM:SS.F] [name]
However, SWS Marker List can not export [end time], only [duration] and the duration has no milliseconds available.

Is there a specific reason for this? Any chance this could be added?
I've found the corresponding code in the repository and tried to dabble with the code but cannot build the project on my Mac (XCode throws errors in stl.algobase.h, among other things).

While trying to download the newest 2.8.3 version of the sws-extensions,
I get a mal-ware alert in Avast, telling me that:

has been blocked, resulting in not to download the update.

Has anyone encountered this too?

I told them, that SWS always was safe in the past (and still is, I believe).
Have not replied yet, so....

Problem is, Avast is blocking the dl and I donīt know how to come across that.
I donīt have any actual problems with the latest sws-extensions, so I easily can wait.

I had the same problem. To get around this, I simply disabled Avast (using the "disable for 10 minutes" option via the system tray icon), then downloaded and installed the SWS extension update during this time. Others may not be comfortable with this approach, but it's one quick workaround.

Default Avira warning - but I don't use Avira

When I got to the SWS download site and clicked "64-bit download", I received an Avira av warning - I don't have Avira and never had, so I have no idea why this page Avira warning is popping up.

There was an ignore option as well so choosing it and scanning the downloaded file with Nod32, I was able to confidently install the SWS file.

thanks for this, exactly what I was looking for!
Will loading tracktemplates like this also load linked program change midi config data?

I have reasynth mapped to program change, to cycle presets via midi program change from my mk461c (Which i've JUST LEARNED can be issued directly from the num.keypad on the controller, thanks to piz and his midi monitor, no thanks to the manual!)

If I open another track with ReaSynth, this linked PC breaks. (I thought i might change preset on BOTH instances of reasynth, but don't yet understand if I'm configuring a project, a track, a vst preset, or if it's just one P.Change linkable)

you can also right-click the system-tray icon for avast, and select the Virus Chest.
From there any false-positives can be added to an exclusions whitelist. I think ya can maybe use this path(s)-of-exclusion to proactively manage false-positives.

Yes, I get this from Norton. Time to turn off Norton for a few moments.Okay, got the file for Windows. I have not used the SWS Extensions. It's time to go learn. I wonder if Mac will block it too. We'll see.

Is there a way to have the contextual toolbars offset so they are centered (more or less) on my screen when I open them? I can't figure out X Y coodinates for that offset, the toolbars always seem to open where my mouse cursor happens to be, of course, to trigger the toolbar in the first place. Sometimes that happens to be too low on the screen for my eyes, or left side, etc.

I'd like to center my toolbars, can this offset be done? XY ?

Will loading tracktemplates like this also load linked program change midi config data?
I don't know. I think so. FX chain seems to store it. I think FX chain is part of track template.

I don't know that one either, but I'm sure something is possible, just not how far you need to go. Maybe just mapping tracks input to different channel and assign other instance to that. There's actions for that. Maybe it has to come in to Reaper on different channel. MIDItoReaControlPath plugin can do that. Good question for MIDI subforum. Some of those guys are pretty tricky.

hey guys, are many of you using the save item mutes state(slot) actions? I'm trying to narrow down some buggy behaviour with improper recall of the item mute state to report.

for example, save slot 1 needs to be restored by restore slot 2.

As well, items with mutliple takes don't seem to be recalling properly

As an addicted user of the SWS Auto Color, I have managed to bring it down on it's knees...

IN SHORT:
Dragging several Auto Color rules takes too much CPU. Possible solution: recalculate track colors and save changes only after mouse button is released.

IN DETAIL:

At around 50 filtering rules and a project with 20 empty Auto-Colored tracks, even scrolling the SWS Auto Color window with a trackpad is veeery sticky. But trying to select and drag ten (new) rules for proper positioning, I first get nothing, then the beachball, then my computer's fans running at full blast, and then the selection is lost and the order of the new (plus a few adjacent and sometimes the few topmost) rows are found in somewhat random order.

(Relaunching Reaper and opening Auto Color window on an empty project fixes the sticky scrolling, but dragging the rows behaves the same.)

As the track colors in the Reaper project seem to be updated on a per row basis when moving a single row, I would guess that moving 10 rules at a time calculates each new rule condition (or saves the changes to the .ini) at each dragged pixel. If this is the case, I would think that calculating the colors at the release of the mouse button (or after one second) would solve the issue without drawbacks.

About false positive virus alerts: sorry for the trouble but the only thing we can do is to report them to avira, avast, etc.

You can configure the number of all S&M "slot actions", see: http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...postcount=1448

Thanks gwok, fixed for the next build (I couldn't duplicate the 2nd "issue" though...).

mrelwood, would you mind attaching the said project (just the .RPP file) as well as your sws-autocoloricon.ini file (you can find it in the REAPER resource folder), thank you in advance!

Default Recall save channels in Snapshots

Hey guys,
I'd love to have the option to set several channels "recall safe" in the SWS Snapshots. So that I can leave channels 1-5 as they currently are when loading another snapshot for example. That really would be fun!

By the way: Thank you for your extraordinary work. I'm finishing my researches at the moment. Reaper including SWS will be the core of my FOH livesound for at least one acappella ensemble. Without you that wouldn't have been possible. As soon as I get the last problems solved, I'll make a donation for that great product.

Are all "...and group newly recorded takes" actions broken, or am I missing something?

I believe this option only works with certain recording modes. Specifically, it doesn't work with New recording (or over dubbing) Creates New Takes. I think it only works with Tape Style or Layering.

Is there a way that Reaper- SWS can (auto) load and save on exit, Customized "Actions" when a song/project is loaded?

Instead of having to Export load/save up project "Actions" config files, manually.

For using for mapping of external controller for fader's and FX for different songs/tabs during live practice using LiveConfig etc.

Thanks

Would be very nice to have the startup action each time a project is loaded, even if it's a tabbed one.

bug:
The action, Toggle zoom to selected tracks and time selection, hide others
_SWS_TOGZOOMTTHIDE

Doesn't maximize zoom of the track with the envelope lanes if not all envelope lanes are visible, for example having one visible only. The zoom would fit all arrange view if all lanes were visible.

Featurerequest: I'd love to have the option to edit snapshots in the "Snapshot Detail" window. With that option we could delete single lines (e.g. ignore the fader position of a single channel).
Would be awesome if that could be integrated.
