Default Saving Multiple Projects that will remember the open project tabs

Sorry if this is a bit of a newbie question. Tried different searches but can't find anything useful. I'm using reaper for live performances. To create a setlist, I'll open all the required projects in Reaper, in the order I want, then exit Reaper.

Next I go into the Reaper.Ini and extract all the ProjectTab[n] entries including the ProjectTabs=[number of open project tabs] entry, and save these in a text file that I call a "setlist".

So now, whenever I want to use a "saved setlist", I go to my saved "setlist" file, and copy/paste the contents back into my reaper.ini file replacing any existing entries. Kinda nice that reaper pretty much keeps these entries where I last put them.

Its great that reaper uses .ini files which really makes this easy but I was wondering if there was a more elegant/proper way of doing this.

Thanks... John

do you have the SWS extensions? If so i think the Project Management - Project List is maybe the tool for this kind of thing.

I've kinda avoided SWS trying to keep things simple. Probably time to get on the bandwagon. Thanks for the reply.

there is under file menu a function for saving all tabs to a named file

so you can load whatever tabs you want and save them to a 'set list' by name...

then do it again

and getting SWS extensions is really a MUST do thing... not so much a matter of keeping things simple really

Just wanted to reiterate what hopi said: SWS extensions aren't anything to be afraid of. They don't destabilise Reaper. The added functionality is amazing.

Project lists are great!

If you do reapack (also nothing to be afraid of) you will have Realauncher made by Solger. It's a nice looking gui of all your recent projects. He added a feature for me that looks for and .rpl (reaper project list files)

I can sympathize about not wanting to get into SWS and Reapack when we are a new user... I felt the same because one look at the Actions List was blinding.... Holy Krap... how many of these things are there and look at those names... Arrrrrghhh... lemme outa here!

But then I found the actions filter and then I made little custom action and then I was hooked.... gimme more! SWS... scripts.... more, more... it's OK... I don't 'have' to use them do I?

But hey.... even if you end up just using one or two, it's well worth it.

Be fearless.... It won't hurt.
