Default Kontakt 5 Player, DrumMic'a, Latency

I'm trying to use an Alesis Control Pad to play "drums" via DrumMic'A in Reaper. It works and sounds good, except there's still noticeable latency between when my stick hits and when I hear the sound back. It makes it impossible to record a tight drum take with a click track or other instruments. It isn't ENORMOUS, just enough to throw me off. When I run Kontakt in standalone mode, I can go into the settings and turn the latency way down and it is totally 100% usable, so I'm sure it's a setting in Reaper somewhere that I don't know about.

In Preferences > Audio > Buffering I can have the media buffer size set to 0 or 500 and it doesn't seem to make any difference, so I'm guessing this isn't the latency settings... but I can't find anything else that makes any more sense.

I'm running a 2012 Mac Mini with 4gb of ram, a Focusrite Pro 40, and the Alesis Control Pad is plugged in via USB.

What am I missing?

prefs -> audio -> device -> request block size

this is the actual soundcard latency, not the one you were modifying.
