Default Are ogg files a problem?

I try to work with ogg files but they either fail to import or they turn up as a minute of silence. There is nothing wrong with them in other software.
Is there a known problem with ogg files?

I've never had issues with them but lots of audio files have what are called Headers and incorrect headers can behave differently across programs. If it works somewhere, just try re-exporting the file from there to a new .ogg to fix the issue.

I've had Reaper fail to load a file that loaded fine in VLC, I don't remember the format, but I fixed it by converting to wav in VLC's tools and importing to Reaper again.

If you have to do this, don't stress about the format change especially if you are going from compressed to uncompressed. They will null. If you go .ogg > .wav > .ogg I guarantee you will not hear any difference and the null will be -40 or more.

To rule out the possibility of a corrupt or non-conformant file, you can try with a test file that's likely to be legit.

Maybe from here: https://freetestdata.com/
There's other sites that will provide example ogg files.
