Default most efficient rearouting

Question seemed simple when I thought of it. I am running audio into Reaper as a live mixing console on two rearoute channels. To have different sounds available at the same time I can either:
a) have two channels that are recording from the same rearoute channels but have different fx on them; or
b) have one channel with the rearoute channels coming into reaper and then use sends from that channel to one or more other channels each with different fx loaded.

My question is which is going to put less load on my system. I figure that b) is probably the best option but would appreciate any ideas you might have.

cheers

thanks Justin. a) has the advantage of being more user friendly - will let you know if it causes me any grief.
