Default Help with my mistake?

Okay so one of the reasons I LOVE Reaper so much is because it is so powerful and you can do so many things with it....

But I am not sure if there is a fix for the mistake I made.

When I first started with Reaper a number of years ago I messed up a recording. Now I am going back to do a remix for the customer because there are some timing issues.

My mistake back then was that I didn't set a project time for the project when I recorded. Like an idiot I used my "old" tracking method of recording to an outside click track which I have since lost. The project tempo is something like 120 BPM but the track was recorded at 80 BPM.

To fix the timing issues I want to have a grid to go off of but every time I change the project tempo to 80 BPM the playback rate of the tracks changes as well.

I would like the tracks to payback at their recorded tempo but I would like to move the grid lines / beats - bars to appear at 80 BPM, is that possible?

Thanks in advance.

Set the default timebase for items/envelopes/markers to Time in the project settings dialog. Assuming you didn't previously override it on a per-item basis, this will affect all items in the project. You will then be able to change the tempo without any audio item moving or stretching. You can put it back to the original default timebase afterward.

If you have MIDI items: right click on them, select "Source properties" and tick the "Ignore project tempo" checkbox.

Another thing you can do is take all of your track items, glue them so they are all one item per track, and drag the left edges of each to the very beginning of the timeline. Then, you can edit your tempo and everything will stay together. Been there before, yes.
