Wow..... Anyone who doesn't use Nebula will definitely read more into that statement.... I hope your wife isn't reading this. ("You already got WHAT in private?")

Yes there are better emulations of analogue circuits today. The Antress stuff attempted to recreate a lot of that gear based upon the stated parameters, not by the subtle quirks of real equipment. That stated, Antress was a beast and I hope he or she will do more, in a more indisputable fashion. Everybody talks about how amazing Bootsie is, but I'm sure that at least on a consistency level, even Bootsie likely respects Antress' contribution.

Bootsy does great stuff but ain't that awesome either. His stuff gets too much praise and is often over-rated

Yet I find myself using Density and EpicVerb all the time. I tend to ignore hype and just use what works well for me. I have a boat load of free and paid plugs so I found it a good sign that these two keep ending up in FX chains on their own merit.
Not as much so on the Antress, I got those but they don't seem to make the cut as often as others. However, they do a good job when it is right tool, right job AKA, when I do use them it isn't due to the emulation, it's due to fitting the need.

Nah, Bootsie's stuff is fantastic. Density MkIII and Ferric TDS are pretty much essential to my work now. What makes you say they're overrated? They do what they do in spades and people like it so they're obviously going to be mentioned a lot - especially being free. Slick HDR is an amazing plugin too - can do stuff that would take you a hell of a lot of tweaking with other plugins.

And let's not forget that Bootsy has now teamed up with TDR and Vladg to make some more amazing stuff.....

I've been looking for a freeware Fairchild 670 emulator for a long time. I hope this fits the bill.

Yeah, Tokyo Dawn Labs and Vladg are a tad above quality-wise, I think.
I'm a fan of Bootsy's work but I'm not so sure those plugs are THAT great-sounding.
Still wondering if I should keep trying out SlickHDR and get something out of it, because it sure seemed interesting in theory...
EDIT = not to mention his blog posts, which are a terrific read most everytime.

Some of his I don't use because I don't get anything out of them either. That's what I typically use as my litmus test... Does it keep finding it's way back on to mixes/tracks, if not I eventually ditch it no matter who made it.

Indeed. Every 6 months or so I do a "plugins cleansing" to re-evaluate my tools (it's like a Reaper enema....lol). To make this easier, I have even decided to try not to even demo free plugins anymore, no matter how cool they might be. This is tough when it's from someone like TDR, Vladg, Bootsy, etc. But OMG, I buy enough already, when I add the good free plugins to this, it's almost obscene how many I have. But when I do succumb to free stuff, the 3 mentioned above always get preferential treatment......

It doesn't.
It is almost completely unlike a Fairchild.
You can get a lot closer to a Fairchild vibe using ReaEQ and ReaComp.

I was fond of Antress plugs too, I only recently discarded my last one, the Pain-Killer after I discovered some horrible scraping low-level noise. But credit where credits due certainly. Taught me a lot.
Right now I'm thinking about having a crack at building my own Fairchild 670

Antress download page now showing as 404?
greetings and salutations fellow Reapists and others(?)
i just noticed my Anteress plugins in my mixer display as coming up showing as unavailable so i went to the main download page and got a 404 error
does anyone know if these plugins for some reason are no longer available?
if so it is a shame cuz ive used some of these completely free and decent, for free, plugins for years as im sure many others have as well
thank you and be well

This thread is old - as are the Antress stuff. AFAIK it's not maintained and only 32 bit. Somewhere there's a reupload - see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCHVhh_OjJw
I would recommend moving on and looking into these plugs to find replacements for Antress:
